LOL, tell us how you really feel!

Seriously, I'll be picking it up on the 360, so I'd be interested in hearing some details.

at least the xbox verison does.. old rosters, no New Busch Stadium, same problems from last year (lineup issues, wild pitches, etc).. i traded it back in today at EB.. the guy asks me about it (with a customer about to pick a copy up).. said "it's crap".. needless to say, the other guy ended up not getting it.. i dont understand.. maybe they were focused on the 360 edition too much? they should have called it "MLB 2k5 -- with a 2k6 Cover"

Thanks for the impression. While visiting WallyWorld, I almost gave in and spent some badly needed elsewhere duckets on this. Now I'll just go to Blockbuster and HD it.

This might be the first video game that I actually take lighter fluid and a match to it. I won't sell it on ebay and rip someone else off. It's going to die and ugly friggin death and a very deserving one at that. 2K Sports should be ashamed. They have the exclusive damn license and this is what we get?

I played this game (Xbox version) for a very long while at a friend's house and to me it's a real stinker. The only good thing about it---and it's a real good thing---is the pitching. The Inside Edge is a pretty cool feature too. The fielding sucks. The momentum feature that's implemented causes too many balls to get through the infield and if you have an Gold Glove OF he won't look like it in this game. The best of OF's (user controlled) will gag on routine flies. You'll either overun them or underun them. You can dive about 20 feet to snag one though as all the outfielders have jetpacks in their butts when they lunge for a ball and they sport cannons for arms. Very accurate cannons too. Graphics are a step down and the AI will play very good for a few innings and then for no reason turn into a retard. 360 version will look better I know but my guess is it'll play much like the Xbox version. I'm glad I have The Show

Do you really need to use the word retard? That offends the everloving s*** out of me. That's about the only thing that does truly offend me. How about a little respect for those less fortunate than you?

I was one complaining how mlb the show took too long t play. Well after playing this pile of garbage, I'll take the hour to play MLB the show over 30 minutes of this crap.

I'm not even a cardinal fan, but how do you leave out their new stadium? I can now see why the other sports leagues are far ahead of MLB when it comes to marketing their sport. MLB chose Kush to handle their exclusive title while the others chose EA. MLB chose wrong.

If this forum has gotten this damn overly sensitive I'm no longer a part of it. There's been plenty of things that have offended me but I didn't go squealing to the thought police about it. It's just a figure of speech much like "right wing facist" , "neocon" or alot of other things sprayed here but since you're offended I'll do you the pleasure of not offending you anymore and leave. I'm sure you're not the only one delighted to read that

It's not that this place is overly sensitive...well maybe it is, but Scoop works with kids with disabilities and it is a sensitive subject for him. Just let this one be...seriously man.

this game (for xbox & ps2) is a shamockery of baseball... i really do not comprehend that they can make a decent title - ESPN NFL 2k5, Top Spin 2, but just dont put the effort into this game.. the sorry fact is if in fact that they went to work on the 360 harder than this, because there are many people still out there who have not gone "next genning" & want a decent baseball title.. for all it's little "quirks", i am glad i still have MLB 06 "The Show" right now to meet my need.. what really bothers me is that it seems no QA was done before it was shipped out..

So I guess it's safe to buy MLB 2006 now. I was waiting for 2K6 to see how it compared. Sorry to hear it's such a disappointment.

Either that or go back to MVP 05...that's pretty much what I'm doing now. I'll get my "Show" fix on the PSP. However, I may get sick of MVP really quickly and I'll be back on the PS2 tip.

Dare I even consider trading in or selling my 360 when MLB: The Show comes out for the PS3? It's quite possible!

MS, get off your f'n butts and do something with High Heat!

MVP 05 is light years better than MLB 2k6. I can't speak for the Show since I don't have a PS2 anymore, but is has to be better than this.

I am giving up after only 3 games. I don't even care what franchise mode has, since the exhibition games I played were so bad. I loved 2k4, preferred MVP to 2k5, and now it's only gotten worse. Thank you to EA for at least getting us updated rosters in December.

Here are some of the things that stick out for me:

- During replays, the umpire flashes as if he is a strobe light
- I saw a guy thrown out at first turn and head back to the dugout, only to overshoot it and try to climb into the stands. He was stuck inplace for a couple of seconds until the games finally went back to the next batter.
- On a seperate occasion, the guy thrown out at first proceeded to do laps around the first baseman for a few seconds.
- I saw at least 6 guys lose their helmets running to first.
- Fielding is slow and unresponsive. They took momentum and went way too far with it.
- Outdated rosters. For a game released after opening day, this is unacceptable.
- The pitching system is pretty cool, but too easy. I have yet to walk a guy, and I have not given up more than 5 hits in a game.
- The passed ball issue is back. With a runner on 2nd, I had 2 consecutive passed balls.
- The announcers say "the batter had 0 HRs last year" for everyone.

The last item I'd like to bring up is the hitting. There are 2 options, classic and swing stick. Anyone who hates the MVP 05 model for hitting should hate this just as much. This is ironic because there seem to be a lot of 2k fans who have bashed the MVP hitting model in the past.

Either system uses the "press up for a flyball, inside to pull" method. They altered the classic hitting to be an almost exact replica of the MVP system, only implemented much worse. The swing stick is a lot like MVP 06. Again, pressing up almost guarantees a flyball. In my first game as the Brewers I hit 4 HRs. At least in MVP you had to have the right pitch in order to send a ball out. Here, up almost always works. I pressed inside to pull an outside fastball and rocketed it foul. If I tried this in MVP it would have resulted in a weak hit, not a laser beam.

I'm sure I'll remember more as the day goes on, but in summary.....STAY AWAY!! This game is horrible.

blueduke I sent you a pm so as not to take this thread off topic any further.

As for MLB 2k6, I'm still holding out a little hope for the 360 version since the NHL and NBA games on 360 were better than their Xbox/PS2 counterparts. I'll definitely wait for impressions first though. What the hell happened to 2k baseball? I loved 2k4 and thought 2k5 was just going to be an off year for them. I guess 2k4 was the exception and 2k5 was the rule.

I'm very skeptical. At least the Xbox versions of NBA and NHL were extremely good starting points. The 360 version of NBA 2K6 was more of a tweak than an overhaul of the Xbox version. It sounds like MLB needs an overhaul.

I agree with you. I played 120 games of 2K4 and about 10 in 2K5. I'm willing to give them another shot, but once you "fool me twice" then all bets are off (ie, Live 2002-2004, NHL 1999-2003, All Star Baseball almost every year, etc.) and I go into "rent first" mode.

The thought had crossed my mind that MLB the Show just might turn out to be a system seller for me once I'm ready to join the next gen. I'm not getting both a 360 and a PS3, and baseball is looking like it might factor into my decision.
