TOCA 3 Action Replay save available
Boys:
An Action Replay save with every track and every championship unlocked is available for TOCA 3 for the Xbox here:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/save/926743.html
Yes, I downloaded it. I'm going to finish the Pro Career and World Tour modes, but I like to have all of the classes and tracks for online hosting and for when I just want to pop in the game for 15-20 minutes and run a few races. There's no reason why I should have to sit through 10 hours of career play to get the classes I want.
Warning: This save will overwrite your existing profile save. So if you're completely wed to your progress so far in World Tour or Pro Career, you probably want to avoid this AR file. I was only 8 percent into World Tour and Pro Career, so I didn't mind sacrificing it to get all of the cars and tracks. I'll just start those modes again.
Take care,
PK

I admit I was a bit confused at first, as after I loaded the file and went into the championship screen everything was locked! Then I pulled my head out of my butt and realized I had to turn the championships on in the bonus screen.
Didn't have time to mess with it too much, but I did do a 10 lap Aussie V8 race at Adelaide, and had a blast. Now I can just pick the championships I want, and not have to race Mac trucks to get them!

I turned a 37.8 last night at Indy in IndyCar Series cars with a slight tow. I never thought I would break 38 seconds, and I don't know that I can without a tow.
Still, 37.8 equals an average lap speed of 238.095. Arie Luyendyk's unofficial all-time lap record of 239 mph -- set during practice in 1996 -- is at risk!
I was flat all the way around, with no wiggle entering or exiting the corners. Could I duplicate that lap? Doubt it, but it sure as hell was fun!
I run mid-38s without traffic, but finding that extra four- or five-tenths without setup changes or a tow will be a b*tch.
Take care,
PK

You've hit on exactly why Indy is so much fun, even without traffic or racing. I don't know about you, DB, but the edge between perfection and calamity at Indy is so small that it's gratifying as hell to rip off a screaming lap.dbdynsty25 wrote:I ran some laps at Indy tonight and I ran 38.11 as my best...without a tow. It was flawless too...I don't see how I can get much better than that. Should be damn fun to try though.
It's a real challenge to squeeze those extra few tenths from your time. Even something as simple as gradually returning the stick to the center exiting a turn instead of letting it snap back to the center can save time, preventing you from scrubbing speed. Just like the big boys and girl during May at the Speedway.
Big fun. Somebody here will run a 37 without a tow. It has to happen!

Take care,
PK

With some very minor tweaking, I've found it possible to consistently run in the 37's at Indy. I reduce downforce to 75% front and rear and just tweak sixth gear to avoid hitting the rev limiter. This produces qualifying times in the 37.8 range and laps with a tow in the 37.5 range. Racing on hard level, the CPU usually gets fastest race lap at around 37.4.

Really? The CPU is that quick? I move the game to 110 percent on the Custom level at Indy offline, and still beat the CPU. That's why I like racing Indy online.sd wrote:With some very minor tweaking, I've found it possible to consistently run in the 37's at Indy. Okay, I am becoming a complete dumb@ss. I acquired an Action Replay just for this file and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Don't you just put the zip file into the saves folder on your PC, then you will see it in the middle column in the Action Replay software. Then you drag and drop to the memory card? It's embarassing to admit that I can't get this to work. I can't see the zip file in the software no matter where I put it, or whether I leave it zipped or uinzipped. I am sure I am just missing something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS - I think I will be resigning from my current occupation due to this.

Hmm. Here's how I do it:
1. Download the AR save to my desktop.
2. Drag and drop it to the left panel of the AR interface that shows my memory card.
3. Remove memory card, plug into Xbox controller.
4. Transfer save from memory card to hard drive via Xbox dashboard Memory menu.
Sometimes the AR can be finicky as hell, though. If it's still not working, erase everything from the card, shut down the AR software, remove the AR USB toggle from your computer and try everything again.
Take care,

I agree with that! For some reason mine is very particular about what USB port it is plugged in to.pk500 wrote:Sometimes the AR can be finicky as hell, though. One other thing: I can't speak for DB, but I never use setups in this game. So my 37-high with a tow and 38-low without a tow at Indy were done with stock setups.sd wrote:With some very minor tweaking, I've found it possible to consistently run in the 37's at Indy. PK, mine were completely stock as well. I actually did it during a race...I was running mid 38s until the final lap of a 5 lapper against the AI. Of course I was out in front as they were only at 90% so I was completely by myself when I ran the 38.11. I was proud of it...even though it doesn't compare to your time, that's for sure. I'll get there. It was only my first night with the game on the Xbox so I just gotta practice I guess.
And Don...be sure that when you are about to drag the file to the memory card...that the AR logo at the top is lit up green. If it's not green (gray), then it doesn't recognize the card. I had to reboot my computer for it to recognize the card...the dongle was recognized, but the software didn't until the computer was rebooted.

DB:
A 38.11 without a tow is nothing to snort at with a stock setup. I think my best without a tow is right about there, maybe 38.0-high, maybe not.
That's a hell of a lap you ran, dude.
Take care,
PK

I would be all over a 50- or even a 100-lapper. A 100-lapper probably would take around 75 minutes without caution flags. We ran a 93-minute race last year at Bathurst, so it can be done without going insane.dbdynsty25 wrote:It would be cool as hell to run a "real" Indy 500 sometime, maybe at like 25% of the distance...that would be a blast.
But damn, your right index finger would be sore as a mofo after 100 laps at Indy if you were in the groove and didn't have to lift outside of traffic.

Join us tonight for the MLR race, and we can run at Indy afterward, if you want.
Take care,
PK

Sounds good. We usually run some shorter shows after the MLR. Hope you can join us.dbdynsty25 wrote:I've actually got a WE9 match with BBPhilip tonight at 8pst/11est so i'll have to join you next week.
