I guess I'm okay with Galatasaray...
Promotion/relegation would work so much better if Konami had actually put in an effort into some leagues like the 2k games where you can actually trade players.
As such, it sucks to be stuck with a team season after season, and then there's somewhat of a continuity problem when people get to choose new teams.
I wonder if it would have been best for ALL involved to use fair to average teams, that way skill is actually awarded, not penalized. In every league, there are guys who are better or worse, and the satisfaction for the worse guys comes from improving their skills to take on the better ones.
Some ideas, but I think we're pretty much ready to go with this first season. It'll be a trial season.
By the way, tjung never got back to my pm, nor did he post in this thread. I guess he's out.

Alright, so we are very close to starting games. Just waiting on a final confirmation from bphilipb (bubbaball) as to whether he does indeed want to keep B.Munchen or take a chance with whichever teams are left in the Top Tier draw pool.
In the meantime, the league module is up and ready for nosing around in. Head on over to Jason's SGN League site:
http://www.sportsgamingnation.com/sgnleagues/index.php
If you don't have an account there, create one and log in. If you do, log in. Click on the WE League Standings link, and there will be the tables of teams. Click on your team's link, and you will be taken to that team's info page. If you are that team's owner, click on the 'manage team' link, and the module will link your log in ID and that team, so you can from then on make changes and report games.
The first half schedules are up. Reporting games is very easy; from the league's Schedule page, where you will see a list of games, or your team's Schedule page, you will note there are three small icons next to each game. Clicking on the arrow icon will allow you to 'update' the game, that is, input the score, etc.
It's pretty straightforward, and any screwups can be fixed by myself or Jason over at SGN.
Winners should be the ones to report the games, but it really doesn't matter; obviously only one guy should 'update' each game.
I am hoping to get the options to add goal scorers and bookings to the game update stuff, but we'll see. For now, let's at least keep some kind of match reports posted here at DSP, with goal scorers, bookings, and injuries (yellow or red arrows only, no need to report those where the guy gets up fine). In fact, we should start a new thread, I think, with the teams and users, league rules and protocols, and so on. In that thread, we can have our match reports.
Note as well that the schedule up is only for the first half-season. Home and Away is very important (home team is listed FIRST), since in the second half season you will play the opposite games. So, we each play everyone in the Division once, hit the deadline (and deal with any forfeits), and then the second half schedule will be up. The 'date' next to each game is not so much a date as a cataloging system, and a way to keep the divisions separate on the schedule page; 1001 is the season number, number 1, the 'month' is actually the Division, and the 'day' is the half of that season (01 for now, next half season is 02). Never mind, you don't have to worry about all that, it just turned out to be an easy way to separate the two divisions on the big schedule page.
OK, there you go. It will be very tough for my depth-free Fenerbahce, espevially with such salary cap abusers as Roma in the Division
We have a nice Rome derby, and a nice Istanbul derby, should be good stuff!
Once we hear from Brian (bphilipb, bubbaball), we can get going. In fact, I'm not sure there's any reason we can't start palying games now.
Good luck!

Wait a minute, wait a minute. . .
Have we decided game time? The rest of the settings, I am sure of:
Time Limit: Long
Number of Pauses: 7
Subs: 3
Match Type EX: No
Match Type PK: No
Condition: Random
Injuries: Yes
Time: (home team choice)
Season: Winter (for this season cycle, will rotate)
Weather: Random
Stadium: Home Team's Stadium
But what about Match Time? I still prefer 20, but there was talk of 15. What's the verdict?
Also, we will be keeping track of bookings, and obviously if someone gets a red card, they miss the next match for that team. Accumulating two yellows will also result in that player being suspended for that team's next game (with the short, 10 round seasons, 8 for Div. 2, 2 yellows is a good number).
Injuries should also be noted. A yellow cross will result in the player missing zero or one game (by roll of a regular six-sided die: 1-3 is no games, 4-6 is one game). A red cross will result in a player missing one, two, or three games (same die: 1-2 is one game, 3-4 is two, 5-6 is three games). We can revisit these injuy rules as we go through seasons, but this is a good place to start.
At least one player needs to make a game report here at DSP after the match, including goal scorers and bookings (yellow and red cards) and injuries (yellow and red crosses). Also, one of the players, typically the winner but you can decide when you guys play, needs to input the game into the league module over at SGN, which will keep the table for us automatically. Eventually, I hope to get the goal scorer, booking, and injury info into that module, but not yet.
Games can be played in any order, but we want to do each season by half, so for now only the first-half games are available to be reported into the league module.
A win is worth 3 points in the standings, a draw worth 1, a loss gets you none. A forfeited game will be recorded as a 3-0 win for the guy who showed real effort to get the game in. Forfeits will be entered into the table as of the half-season deadline, or shortly thereafter. Extensions will be liberally given, but try to use the threads to keep in touch so Mo and I can tell who is trying to get games in and who is awol. If both teams are AWOL, the game will be recorded as a 0-0 draw (what else can be done for a double-forfeit?)
At the end of the season, the team in each Division with the most standings points is the Champion of that Division. The Championship of the DSPremiereship brings with it much glee and rejoicing, dancing in the streets and laughter and good times. The Champion of Division Two, the DSPenultimate, will be promoted into the DSPremiereship for the following season, and the last team in the DSPremiereship table will be relegated into Division 2.
In the case of a standings points tie, the first tie-break will be Goal Difference. The second tie-break will be total Goals For. After that, we'll have to think of something (head to head record would be next, then maybe head to head GD, then head to head GF; after that . . . ?).
Pretty much stuff everyone already knew, but I wanted to get it down for the record.
Once we decide on the Match Time, we are good to go with playing games. I will start a new league thread, with this info above in the post as well as the Divisions and stadiums etc., and we can use that thread to start reporting games and such.

Sory guys. There have been some issues with the email notification over at the SGN League site. He has now turned email verification off, so your account should activate immediately.
However, the following people need to create accounts again:
* BBatts
* dbdynsty25
* naples39
* bphilipb
* mobiggins
EDIT: I have no idea who BBatts is. . . ?
Thanks!
About team rosters:
Players can only be entered into the system from the team's own page, not from the match report dtat entry page. But, you can get to that page easily just by clicking on that team's name.
EDIT: updated; every user should be able to enter players into any teams databse, once we are all registered over at the league site. I still would plan on posting match reports here at DSP, and would encourage others to do so as well, even if they are very short.
Once a player is in the system, his name will always be there, so it's not a problem.
IMPORTANT
One more note: Since I am using the game dates as an arbitrary catalog system, we have to make sure when we add players in to the database that they have a 'joined' date earlier than the game dates. Here's the problem: the game's 'year' is 1001 for the first season, so the players, when you enter them, need to have 'joined' date earlier than 1001 (instead of the default, 2006). If the date the player 'joins' is after the game dates, he won't appear in the list for that game. So players must be put in with years lower than 1000. There should be one such date already in the pull-down.
Questions, problems, difficulties, feel free to post or pm.
Thanks!

One more thing: Konami-speak.
If you are inputting the real names for your players, at least put in parenthases the Konami-speak name so we can all know who he is supposed to be when playing online. I've started trying to do this with the teams and stadiums.
My preference would be to have both names, one in parenthases (doesn't make much difference which), for players with Konami-speak names, but if you only put in one, make it the Konami-speak name.

UPDATE
Ok, so Jason says once everyone has registered over at the SGN League site, he can change the permissions so everyone can add players to any team. This way, whoever reports the game can if need be add the goal scorers and booked and injured players to both teams databases, and input the goals etc.

OK so we are set with 20min. Match Time setting. I will start a freash thread soon.mobiggins wrote:Allright, so are we ready to roll? 2o min is okay with me.
Zeppo, I guess we play first.
Mo, games can be played in any order.
Jimmy, we discussed this briefly earlier in the thread. We're all committed to random condition, random weather, and injuries on.
so are we good to go?

There is a new WE League thread, take a minute (OK, I wrote it, so take 5 or 10 minutes, lol) and peruse it; pretty much everything you need to know is in there.JackB1 wrote:so are we good to go?

I want to do the seasons in halves if we can, so for now we are trying it that way. That's why only the first half of the season is up on the schedule page. Each half-season, you play everyone once. This way, we can avoid playing both home and away matches with the same opponent on the same night, or in the same session.
Each half-season has a deadline after 2 weeks and forfeits will be awarded at the deadline.
Not that the HOME TEAM is listed FIRST in the schedule list.
