Yeah, but a lot of people had Wichita St...including me. It's those of you who had BOTH of them that would actually be a damn good bracket and worth mentioning. We could go on and on about how one person picked a long shot, thus making this thread rather long...

I only ended up with 9 of my Sweet 16 picks making it in. And my final 4 is down to 3 with Pitt getting knocked out so handily by Bradley today. That was an embarassing loss... Bradley is certainly a worthy team, but Pitt looked flat all day and didn't look like they wanted the win at all...

Ding-dong, Duke is dead. Yee-hah!

So is this what happens when J.J. Redick plays against bigger, more athletic, more physical players? In other words, like guys who play in the NBA? Hmm ...

Thomas was a beast while playing with four fouls for LSU.

Take care,

How can Duke not get a rebound from a missed free throw when the entire LSU team except the free throw shooter is at the other end of the floor?

 That was pathetic. I think Duke had given up by then...but what great hustle by the big man to get to the ball.

Big Baby took ballet in high school, and it showed tonight. That dude is quick as hell for a 315-pound man!

I'm as happy as the next when Duke loses but that is a little off. In the NBA...teams don't double team shooters 5 feet behind the three point line...it's also doubtful that anyone will desing their entire defensive strategy for stopping one player. He had a bad game...he had a lot of open looks and he missed. He just didn't get enough help from his team.

BINGO.

Everybody stinks up the place sooner or later. JJ picked a bad night to do it though. Gotta give credit where credit is due. LSU's D was outstanding. Quick athletic teams have always given Duke fits. It wasn't Big Baby who won the game as he was cancelled out by Sheldon Williams' performance. Duke still had a very good run this season. I figured it would have ended on Sat though if Texas takes out WVU. Now that Duke is out I have to pull for Hickory NC's own Rick Barnes. Hook'em Horns

Hook 'Em!

Pittsnoggle and company just wouldn't go away all evening and kept themselves in the game from behind the arc. How fitting that after Pittsnoggle tied the game on a 3 with 5 seconds left that Kenton would hit an ugly looking 3 at the buzzer to deter any OT.

Feel bad for Morrison, but Batista blew this game. He had some offensive rebounds he could have kicked out under 2 min to kill more clock but he took the quick shots. And at the end, the steal, well, you could see that coming.

Ref's let them play down, I think you could have called some fouls on that UCLA press but Gonzaga should have won the game.

I watched the last minute of the Duke LSU game and was surprised to see DUKE losing to LSU. LSU is a good team and they played well, but DUKE was not supposed to lose that game. I think Memphis will probably be the champs.

Maybe but the most pathetic call was wiping out the UCLA basket in the last minute on the foul call. Gonzaga has no complaints. They folded down the stretch pure and simple.

I dont know how a basketball fan can actually watch the garbage the NBA is selling after watching these games tonight.
Nice to see players who care and play on every possesion.

Ya thats probably true but march maddness is only what, 3 weeks. The college regular season has about the same interest level to me as the nba regular season.

Say what you will, but tonight continued the trend of Redick sh*tting the bed at the wrong time in the Tournament.

He scored only five points in a loss to Kansas in the 2003 regional semifinals. He also only had 13 in the loss to Michigan State last year in another lousy shooting night.

Take care,
PK

Yep, GU only has themselves to blame. Its been awhile since I've seen a team crap themselves like GU did down the stretch of this game. They've been scraping by some marginal competition all year long, so they should be proud to have made it as far as they have. Terrible way to lose a game, but all they did was save themselves another whooping from Memphis.

And Memphis undoubtedly has had the easiest run in the tournament thus far (16 seed, 9 seed, 13 seed), so it will be interesting to see how they play against 2-seed UCLA out west.

I just hopy my boys don't blow a 20 point lead like they did against the Bruins in Nov.

Oh I agree, PK. He had open looks and didn't knock the shot down. he also found himself double teamed 5 feet behind the three point arc as well. Other than Sheldon Williams and briefly from Josh McRoberts he got no help at all. He avg playing over 36 minutes a game every single game this season. Too much court time for a jumpshooter.

But on the next level he's not going to have to fight off double teams 5 feet behind the 3 pt. line. JJ's been facing this for 4 years. I honestly feel worse for Sheldon Williams. He avg a double double for the season and didn't get near the ink as Redick.

Next season, JJ will come into his first NBA game, be called for the hooking he usually does, and his career will be over in 11 seconds.

Time will tell. In any case the constant double teams are over.

Memphis/UCLA should be an outstanding game. Looking forward to it.
