And Billy Packer starts to cry...sportdan30 wrote:Iowa falls on a miracle 3 point shot from Northwestern State?!?!?!
Arkansas falls to Bucknell......their tourney magic continues.
He picked a bad year for his mid-major rant.
Oh, just had to add that Steve Alford should be removed from consideration for the IU job immediately.

I don't think the loss has sunk in yet. Half my department headed downtown this morning to a sports bar to drink and eat and enjoy the game. Iowa jumped out to an 18-4 lead, only to give up a 14-0 run, then opened a 15 point lead with 9 minutes left only to blow it all in about 3 minutes. I wasn't the least bit surprised when Brunner missed the free throw and Northwestern St hit the 3 to win the game, it just seemed like a game Iowa was destined to lose the way they blew two huge leads. It was pretty tough to lose though on a last second shot though when you've basically led from start to finish. It was amazing how fast that place cleared out after that 3, I don't even think a fire could have cleared the place in that amount of time.Brando70 wrote:Thank goodness. I am worried about HipE, I hope his feet aren't dangling above the floor after that Hawkeye loss.

For that moment, it's the worst feeling in the world. I think it took me a couple weeks to get over the Bucknell loss. The worst part is that you know a team like NW State or Bucknell doesn't have a prayer to reach the Final Four. It's unfortunate the whole season comes down to a last second shot. Iowa had a better season than most people expected. Gotta remember the positives.HipE wrote:I don't think the loss has sunk in yet. I'm thinking next year he could announce he's quitting at the start of the Big Ten season and IU could run the tableDave wrote:Eh, I wouldn't go that far!Brando70 wrote:Thank goodness. Is it too late to re-hire Davis

HipE, I was shocked. We were out at lunch too, and left to go back to work when they were up 15. It's one thing when a lower seed comes out and fights you all game or gets hot, it's another to just blow a game like that. I wonder what will happen with Alford now.

Except now they are getting smoked. Something must have just clicked for Memphis.rubba19 wrote:They are the best 16 seed I have ever seen.......sportdan30 wrote:CBS's Seth Davis said he thinks Oral Roberts has a real good chance against Memphis.Danimal wrote:As a UConn fan, let me just predict the first loss of a 1 to 16 seed. That Iowa loss has made this tourney a success already, as far as I'm concerned. Nothing personal HipE, and I have a lot of friends who are Iowa alums. But antyime anything bad happens to that sh&tbag Alford it's a good day in sports.

The reason why the pain from this loss isn't going to last long with me is because Alford is Iowa's coach. I actually didn't watch a full game this year until the Big 10 tourney last weekend, all because Alford has killed almost all the enjoyment I used to get from Iowa basketball. I root for the school and the players now, not the coach, and all of my sadness after the loss was for the in-state seniors like Brunner and Horner who stuck through a lot of s*** here and always played hard.
It's funny, coming into this season, I was hoping that Iowa would be so terrible that they would be forced to buy Alford out of the final 3 years of his contract (at 500k per year, 1.5 mil total). I was willing to go through another disappointing season just to be rid of him. But as it turned out, Iowa got pretty hot and led the Big 10 most of the season, Indiana fell apart and Davis resigned, and all of a sudden everyone thought Alford was leaving for Indiana. Not only were we going to get rid of him, it wasn't going to cost the school anything and the fans were going to get a winning season on top of that. Now with Iowa's predictable first round flameout, I'm sure Indiana isn't going to want him anymore, and I'm going to go into next season with no interest in the Iowa program yet again.

F*ck you, CBS. First you leave the Pitt game for a cut to every other game and then you switch to Albany/Uconn. This was supposed to be my in market game, but I've seen about 5 minutes of the first 20 minutes.
What makes matters worse is I can't watch it on the Internet because of blackout restrictions.
Now I have to f*cking listen to Jim Nantz and fudge Packer.

Holy s***! My dad's Alma Mater beat the Jayhawks. I was just happy to see Bradley make the tourney for the first time in several years. I really didn't think they had a chance in this one but they showed a lot of heart. Big, big win for Peorians.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I'm actually a Penn State alumn, but I could never abandon the team I grew up loving so I'm one of those strange fans from Western PA that likes both. It's actually good for me that the rivalry is almost dead so I can root for both.PadresFan104 wrote:Leebo, I'm Pitt alumn... no chance to see them on TV out here in San Diego, so I feel your pain... All I know about Bradley is that they were good enough to beat Kansas
