I disagree. I think they should appear nightly. If you can tame those beasts, you can tame anything. I had more gratification with that race than all the rest of them combined.
Agreed. I'm absolutely horrid in those cars, but I want to learn how to drive them. It also doesn't hurt that the mid-60s is my favorite era of racing and that my favorite all-time driver, Jim Clark, drove a Lotus 49 ... :)

Take care,
PK

I wouldn't go THAT far

I don't know if I'm ready for a Lotus MLR within the next 2 weeks or so, but that would sure be interesting, wouldn't it?

I'm thinking more along the lines of an IRL MLR at Indy. Man, those IRL cars are probably my favorite so far, despite the fact that they're "just" on ovals. Fast, twitchy, and very fun. I absolutely obliterated my car a few times last night in practice sessions of the Pro Career mode because I was pushing it too hard. Throttle control is key to surviving a fast IRL race, as it should be.

Terry:

I haven't unlocked the IRL cars yet. Do they feel more like those in the IndyCar Series games or the American 1000 series from TOCA 2?

Thanks,
PK

I didn't play the IRL game much. I remember really disliking the American 1000's in TOCA2, though. Think of it as a happy medium, as much of a cop out as that sounds. I remember in IRL it would be really, really hard to nail that good setup. Actually, that may be the perfect point of reference:

It feels a lot closer to what I expect ICS2005 would feel like with a great setup than the American 1000's ever did. I have to lift just a bit at almost all of the tracks, but then it's back on the throttle...between two-thirds to full throttle, applying more throttle as the radius tightens and letting up as it increases. Those are the instances where I tore my car up...staying on too hard, thinking I was going to clear the corner and then just absolutely driving the RF into the wall.

With a nice throttle application you can really get some smooth lines and a very believable IRL session. Tweaking the steering too quickly reminded me just how twitchy they are. I had no problems with spinning out, however, so take that for what it's worth. I could barely keep the nose pointing forward in ICS, but I didn't play it much either.

I'm not sure what to compare it to, but it's damn fun.

I've said this in my impression threads but damn this game is easy to get into and a non-racer. I'm itching to go online but I dont' think I can commit hours online like it seems some of you race. I might be wrong about that.

Can anyone give me any tips for getting off the line fast. It seems that best way is to throttle up but have your revs low, then on green smoothely accelerate. I'm better but not super fast that way.

I love the open wheels and I think they have a great sense of speed and excellent grip. The off-road cars and tracks are hard for me. The off-road bugs are hilarious, bouncing around. The other Baja class are tough to control. They have way too much speed and less control.

This game is tons of fun. It has replaced WE9, FM and Rugby for now. The great thing is that you can return to those great games later.

Even if you run with us for only an hour, it's fun as hell. There are racers of all skill levels in our group, so you'll always have someone to race with.

Rev your engine just to the edge of the red line while the lights are changing. When the lights go out and the race starts, drop the revs very slightly and then gradually apply the power.

Take care,
PK

Funny thing was last night I didn't join you guys because I was running the Lotus 49 on Grand Prix Legends. I am totally addicited to hot-lapping on that game.

I can't wait to try the Lotus 49 on Toca 3 to compare them as they are a beast on GPL.

GPL has made me a much better racer on Toca 3.

Zeppo said that he gave them a call... originally i had the Encore package, but downgraded the phone package & asked if they had a better connection.. they did a line test & said that they were upgrading the speed (at no cost) March 1st.. hopefully this cures some of the issues i had.. my speed was the lower one (something around 728 i think) -they said that the work done tomorrow would double that..

So far I have only been racing online exclusively with this game and haven't gotten into the offline career mode yet, probably won't until this weekend but it has been a blast playing with everyone online even though I usually end up in last or next to last in every race. I usually buy racing games and then give up on them within a week or two but this game is definitely a keeper.

Guys,
Sorry about tonight. I've been having problems with my internet for the past couple of hours. It just keeps going down for about 5-minutes at a time. Hopefully I'll be able to join soon. Heck, I needed to practice solo tonight anyway.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

well tonight should have been "Demo Derby night".. that one insane track that people were just tearing their cars apart.. then came the race at Indy... nice to see pk's car bounce 50 ft in the air & watching in horor as it comes right into you... then the worst one of all was not even controlled by me.. leaving the pit area, computer-controlled, my car was gaining speed when all the sudden right in front of me was another car & BANG...

I was total sh*t last night, and I apologize to everyone. I need to try racing while sober and carrying more than four hours of sleep. It might do me -- and everyone I hit -- a world of good.

Sorry again. I'll do better tonight. Last night was deplorable by me. Awful.

Take care,
PK

Yeah, PK, dude, that was the most wrecked I have ever seen you. I came on in the middle of what was to be your last race, and as I was flipping through the spectate mode, I saw you weaving all over the track, on and off, while you were QUIET!

I thought you must have been falling asleep.

EDIT: Oh, and apologies again to Kruza. I smashed you early in the 10 lapper. I apologized, but you didn't answer, so I figured you didn't hear me or were too pissed to reply. Either way, I figured I'd better apologize again.

Eyes were drooping, no doubt. I just completely lost the plot last night. Out of it, in more ways than one. ;)

The sad thing is that you probably still would have finished ahead of me...
