I own Madden, PGR, Perfect Dark, COD2 & NBA2k6 and have never had a single freeze or any other problem with any of them.
That's great, but their are known issue with PGR freezing.

I see.

I will just exchange the copy at Sears.

BTW, the "loose thingy" inside your Xbox apparently is what tells the console if it's horizontal or vertical.

First 360: PGR3 freezes every time, Madden freezes, Tiger Woods freezes, NBA 2K6 and Madden hiccups.

New 360: No freezes so far *crosses fingers.* I haven't had a freeze with PGR3 and I've put a lot of time into the game (I completed the bronze medals and I'm going back now and picking up silvers I couldn't pickup the first time through.)

Obviously there is a big differenbce between freezing everytime and occasional lock up. In this huge patch coming out, isn't one of the things they are addressing the lock up issues.

Maybe. I'm glad I had a handful of games to try out because if I only had one or two I may have downplayed my problems. I only had occassional lockups in Madden and Tiger.

I think PGR3 locking up is a huge red flag and I think Javi should send his Xbox to MS if another game locks up.

True.

What's strange in my case is that it never did it while playing. It was only in loading screens.

I tried w/o the HDD and it still freezed on loading screens so I know it's not that.

I have to send mine in. I'd only initially had my system crash with PDZ but now it happened with COD2 as well. I'll be calling Microsoft soon.

Scoop, did it freeze while playing or in a loading screen?

Well a bit of an update.

I took PGR back to Sears and they gave me fill refund so I went ahead and rented it along with COD2.

After a loong gaming night(almost 4 hours), I'm happy to report that there was no freezing on either game.

I hope that it was just a bad copy of PGR.

*crosses fingers*

Oh, it's not freezing at all. It's crashing with red flashing lights.

Well, I went ahead and called MS yesterday.

I was playing saturday night and suddenly 2k6 and NFS would not stop freezing after barely starting a game/race.

I then triend PGR and the system gave me and error to I should insert this game on a 360 console?? WTF?

Strange thing is, the girl that took my call, never even:

1. tried to troubleshoot
2. ask me what games where freezing
3. ask me if the system was well ventilated

She just asked if I had a HD and if my console was registered.

Anyways, did you guys recieve new consoles or your original ones repaired?

That's great Leeb.

No problems with the new unit?

BTW, why haven't we hooked up for some Celtics vs Sixers action?

I've had my system since launch, with zero problems. While trying to boot up CoD on Friday, I got the 3 red lights. I detached everything, reconnected....nothing. All of this just came out of nowhere. I put a call in late that night, and I'm waiting on my box.

I hope the turnaround isn't too long. I'd like to have a system when GRAW releases.

When you guys talk about getting freezes, if you wait do you get a "dirty or scratched disc" error or does it just flat lock up?

I've played Kong, NBA2k6 and PGR3 on my system and have received mulitple dirty or scratched disc errors from NBA2k6 and one from PGR3. The discs, to my eye, don't have any egregior scratches (NBA was purchased new, PGR3 is a rental). In every case it looks like the game is frozen, but if I wait a minute or two I get the error message. And to think I thought I was done with DDE's when I set my original Xbox aside.

I'm on the fence with calling customer support, especially since it doesn't sound like they want to try and troubleshoot the problem and I can't be positive that it's not the discs, but if this is a degrading issue with my box I'd rather get the replacement process overwith.

Any thoughts? Opinions?

just freezes up in the middle of action. Dirty disk problem is different and probably not heat related l like the freezes.

Well I caled MS last friday to check on the box the where supossed to ship to me and they told me that order was "on hold".

Since I was at work, I decided not to discuss it at the time.

I went to the mall after work today and saw that Sears had 3 Core systems all dated 1/3/06 so I just went home, packaged the system and came back to echange it. f*** MS cust service.

F*ck...360 just died.

I played some GRAW for about 15 min...the quit back out to the main menu...and it just blacked out...no more video. Turned it off, and then back on...3 flashing red lights. Toast. F&CK. I guess it'll be a good thing to get a new system, not a launch one knowing all the problems they've had.

Yeah...I figured I was pretty lucky that it lasted as long as it did. Seems like almost everyone here has had to send it back. The only problem is it's gonna take like 2-3 weeks to get it swapped out. I'm going to go nuts. I guess I'll go try to find one in a store somewhere and play that one for a few weeks till it gets sorted out. Otherwise, I guess I gotta stick with the original Xbox along with WE9, MVP 05 and Toca 3. Not exactly torture.

But hey, at least I haven't had a single problem with mine yet...

Dont feel too bad db, I've yet to even f*cking find one, they have eluded me since launch day. I posted in another thread how pissed I am at my sons friend. I think it will be karma for me not to end up with his launch system.

I hope to find one in the coming weeks. Some guy named sd in another thread said he saw a bunch everywhere today. I asked him where he lives (I'm hoping his sd implies San Diego) because then that means I have hope here in Cali.
