Yes, GT I know what Sully said and yes he is a mod over there, and one of the better ones at that, but I find it hard to believe that a producer of a game, if that's what he is, can be hogtied to the point that he can't respond AT ALL about an issue that a lot of people had with their game.

Was I asking for a replacement disc? No

Was I asking for a patch? No.

All I wanted was something...anything. A simple "Guys, we are aware of the problem and are looking into it" would suffice. Hell, if he couldn't have said that then how about "I'll pass it on to the technical department".

But we got NOTHING! I know Jackdog got a PM from one of the guys, but it never went anywhere.

I guess my point is that Sully used that excuse of maybe they aren't allowed to say anything, but anyone from the old usenet days and High Heat threads know that something is better than nothing, no matter how small it is. Just a simple "We're looking into it" would have done something to at least give me confidence in these guys, but as it is, I'm sorry I can only view them as snake oil salesmen.

Unlike a lot of the other people, I'm definitely buying it again this year, but I am already wary of the rocket arms. I loved the game so much last year, that I was willing to look past that because everything else was so good.

Again, I love their Q & As over there, but I find it so hard to believe that they can't say ANYTHING after it comes out.

I just noticed that Steve has posted a developer's diary with come cool stuff in it. One thing I liked a lot was this:
One of the features that we added this year is the ability to have roster control over other teams. This was a popular request that we saw from gamers, and we complied. Now you have the ability to change other team’s rosters, lineups and rotations to coincide with changes that happen in the real majors, or if you just feel you want to see things differently. It is important to note that in order for you to take advantage of this feature, you must turn this on (it defaults to ‘off’) before entering Franchise mode.
I've always wanted this for no other reason than you can make the trades that happen during the season. I would never use this feature to gain an advantage, but it's nice for roster management.

Fair enough, Badgun. For what it's worth, it looks like the outfielders arms have been adjusted this year. In one of the plays of the day over at IGN, I saw a left fielder throw the ball in to 3rd base from near the warning track, and it was a lolly-pop throw that looked to be about 10 feet off-line. I never saw that in the game the last 2 years, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it has been addressed.

I know many people wanted this feature, but unless you coinside each game with real life MLB, what use is it?

Because regardless of whether or not you're keeping in lockstep with the real life season, if Ken Griffey Jr. gets traded to the Royals and you have a series coming up in your virtual season against the Royals, a lot of people would like Griffey to be there when they play them.

Yeah, that's mostly what I would use it for. I'm certainly not going to take the time to micromanage each team's lineup, but with the way a lot of key players switch teams during the season, it will be a great tool to have.

Understood, just wondered.

I like the sound of the in game AI for deciding to go for it, rebuild, etc..

I do, and I am very happy it is included this year. I HATE when I cannot mimmick real life trades and whatnot. I usually play my season at a similar pace to the real one, so making the big moves when they happen is beneficial. I'm sure there are quite a few others who like to do the same.

Without a doubt, this is a great feature. A definite selling point for me.

Now, if only MLB The Show can replicate MVP 2005's hit variety. I'd be in baseball heaven.

My gut feeling tells me there will be more types of hits than last year, but the frozen ropes to all fields and the rocket ground balls will still make up too many of the ones you see.

Your right. I was asked at what point did my game freeze,I told them and never heard from them again.

As I recall,you and db pumped this game up as much as I did last year and we were all let down. Don't get me wrong it was a decent game when it wasn't locked up but thank God for MVP05! It saved my baseball gaming life.

I will wait and check out you and db's thoughts on this years game and go from there. I think we all look for the same things out of our baseball games.

So in effect, it turns off the AI based trading system I guess? I wonder if it also turns off FA?

As many baseball games that are played, I could see the season and your gaming season staying realativly the same though.

I hate it when the AI makes trades on their own. I turn all of that off before I start a season anyway...if it's available that is.

I agree. ESPN 2K4 was an excellent game, but you would play a team later in the season, and there was so much wheeling and dealing by the AI, that all the teams would bear only a slight resemblance to how they looked at the beginning of the year. It was really comical.

Well, if it's done right, I wouldn't mind it one bit.. but I'm not sure how last year's AI was in respect to that. The bad part is it takes the fun out of trading on your own.

I can't describe how disappointed I was with ESPN 2k4 after I played EVERY game all the way to the trading deadline and then the CPU turned over 50% of every roster. The trades were stupid too. I remember playing the Cubs and Aramis Ramirez had to be the catcher because they had traded for 2 other 3rd basemen and had no catcher!

Flipping throught the channels last night I caught a commercial for MLB 06 The Show!

Unfortunately I was on the phone with my gf at the time. Apparently I tuned her out for a few seconds and when I tried pulling one of those "Huh... what? ...of course I'm listening, dear" she just laughed and said she could hear me drooling! Ha! :D

It's about time we had someone from the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis posting here.

BTW, I can't wait for this game (PSP version). I haven't played any baseball games yet this year unlike most of you.
