PC Indie Game Thread

Post by pigpen81 »

I think we are way overdue for an Indie game thread. particularly for sports games. Jared, a possible sticky?

Thanks to the Bill's (Abner and Harris), we are privy to many great indie games.

Thanks to them I discovered New Star Soccer 3 yesterday and what a blast that game is.

Anyway, while checking some websites I discovered this little gem today.

Tennis Elbow 2005 - http://www.managames.com/tennis/info_en.html

Over 300 players and over 100 tournaments to compete in, singles and doubles. This game is very very good. I em enjoying the demo immensely at this time.

Here are the specs:

Recommended system requirements :

* CPU: 800 Mhz or faster Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
* RAM: 128 MB or more
* Video: DirectX 8.1 compatible 64-MB 3D card

Characteristics:

Animation:

* very smooth rendering
* realistic crowd animations: members of the crowd turn their heads to track the ball, and will applaud during gameplay
* line judges show the faults and the balls on the lines

Tournament:

* 125 tournaments
* Davis Cup
* 300 players
* Full double-ranking system (like the entry one from ATP), both in single and double competition
* Activity of the past year

Misc:

* 6 grounds, with different rebounds
* 2 players with changing colors (skin, hair, T-shirt, ...)
* Single, 1 vs 2, Double
* 6 difficulty levels

Now all we need is some indie developers to bring us some baseball games. I can only dream.

The only problem with making it a sticky is that there are only a handful of PC gamers here...just keep bumping it when new stuff comes out.

Here is a free Indie game called Knytt.

It is freaking brilliant. The music and ambiance is top notch. This should be on Live Arcade.

If you like Ico, Shadow of the Collosus, Metroid, and Spelunkering, this is for you:
