Cmon bad. you are an old time Cowboy fan.
You have to remember how the refs screwed the Vikes and gave you that playoff game in 75.
Remember when Pearson pushed that poor Vike in the back? and he got called for PI?
That was possibly the worst call in NFL history and it was on a big stage.

b_assassin wrote:Incredible. Never have I seen such a pre-ordained piece of crap game in my life. The officials took away at least 2 touchdowns from Seattle, which put them in a nearly impossible position to try and come back from. Even after all the BS in the first half, Seattle was coming back, then the officials just took it away. Was this a football game or two-week long mini-series?
That's the perfect word, pre-ordained. IT did feel like I was watching some script and not a game. Love how they had the Bus miked up but no one on seattle was miked up at all. This is what we get these days, corporatations managing outcomes of sporting events.
I can't believe what I'm reading! I thought I was just imagining things, but you guys saw it too? I'd like to see what Leebo and other Steeler fans say about the game.
IF I was a fan of the STeelers I would obviously take it. Nowadays it seems like there's always gonna be the media darling team that the networks/leagues will want to sell. One day the steelers may be on the other side of the coin, so if I were them I'd take it and shut my mouth and celebrate.

Yeah, but you know there's no such thing as a bad call when it happens for your team.

It's blue with a little bright green thrown in. Either you're color blind or you need to adjust your TV.

I do hate the dark pants with the dark tops though. Keep light pants with dark tops please.

There should have been a federal investigation into that game without a doubt. There is a website somewhere that breaks it down play by play and there are no other conclusions you can come to other than the game was fixed

:D

Besides it being fixed it made me physically sick.
My idiot brother calls Me everytime the highlights are on to complain about intentional grounding....Including waking me up at 3 AM.

The game was bullshit....everyone looked away...glad they see some of it today.

Well you can't beat the refs, that was clear.

Also why did Ward win the MVP, is it because he got away with holding all night long?

I particularly hated in the 2nd half when they made Seattle's QB overthow his receiver terribly and gift the Steelers an interception. Such cheating.

I am glad to see I am not the only one that saw these bad penalties against Seatle and the non-called penalities for the Steelers.

Football is a great game, but the integrity of the Super Bowl has to make you question the NFL.

As it turned out, that catch where Rothlisberger put it up to set up the Steelers' first TD was a real key play.

Of course, there wasn't much production from either team. Seattle did gain almost 400 yards but only 10 points. So you might as well give it to the guy who had a good game statistically.

And it was obvious that the refs moved the goalposts twice on Brown's FGs. BASTARDS!

If the NFL is fixed then the Seahawks should just be fortunate that the writers left them in the script this long.

Wasn't that on the same series where the holding was called which negated the pass play to the 1 or 2 yard line?

On third and long, Hasslebeck probably had to throw a more risky pass. More risky than if they had the ball at the 1 or 2.

And then on that interception, he also made an illegal block. :P

Not saying that Seattle weren't on the receiving end of some bad calls, but they played like crap in a lot of key situations. Their plays at the end of the game when they needed two scores were embarassing.

Oh, and someone was claiming that it was a certain touchdown when the Seattle receiver only had one foot in but his knee brushed the pylon. I would like to see that play again cause at the time it seemed obvious it was out of bounds and Seattle never challenged the play (or did it happen in the last two minutes of the first half?).

That was indeed a bad call. But refs make bad calls all year. I've been complaining about it constantly.

There was no review because that play was obvious.

I heard Holmgren wouldn't shake Cowher's hand after the game.

Wonder if he'll go off on the officiating even if it means heavy fines? He obviously feels he was jobbed. You can tell at the end of the first half, he was grousing about the Rothlisberger TD (which even if they didn't make it, Pittsburgh probably would have scored it on 4th down).

Watched it with my best friend who is a diehard Steelers fan and we both felt the Steelers kind of stole the game. The Steelers offense was pretty dreadful for all but a handful of plays and the defense seemed unable to either pressure Hassleback or cover the receivers. The Seahawks pretty much outplayed them on both sides of the ball for the vast majority of the game.

The difference was that the Seahawks shot themselves in the foot with either a dropped pass or penalty in key situations (in fact, pretty much every single key situation they were in). The officiating was also unkind - I can't think of a single questionable call that went against Pitsburgh. I thought the push off was a weak call but it was right in front of the offical so I can't really say that there's too much to complain on that one. The call for the illegal block on Hasselback was terrible - not sure how much if any that call affected the result.

In the end, though the team I and my friend wanted to win came through, its kind of a weird win since its not really one that we particularly felt like celebrating. Combined both teams played won of the poorest Superbowls in a while.

Best wishes,

Doug

Thanks!

My hats off to Seattle. They have a great team. I knew they were good, but they were even better than I thought. It was a pretty crappy football game with only really a few memorable plays. Somebody had to win it. I've been on the losing end plenty of times in big games as a fan so I feel their pain.

I still think Super Bowl XXX was fixed with NOD's interceptions thrown nowhere near the receivers so this makes it even :D

Yeah, it was a close game but one of the worst. I certainly wish it would have been a better game, but I'm looking at the beauty of the entire postseason for the Steelers rather than dwelling on a crappy Super Bowl. What a great 5 weeks!
