OH GEEZ...not the "dreaded Patriots" sh*t again. Look, the Pats were beat by Denver, deal with it.Inuyasha wrote:You know the Steelers are so lucky they didnt run into the Pats. I can't really call them the best team in football this year even if they go on and win this game. If the pats dont have a off day vs denver, it's the pats in the superbowl today. But thats the way the ball bounces sometimes and Pitt took advantage of it.
If Nick Harper's wife didn't stab him the night before the game, he gets by Big Ben, scores and the Colts are leading 35-7 right now.
It didn't happen, the Steelers have had a damn impressive playoff run, beating the #1, 2, and 3 seeds on the road.

It's hard to feel good for the Steelers in this game. Its not their fault but the refs really ruined the experience for the hardcore football fan. ABC and the NFL are sure happy that pitt won and they can find a tom brady like figure to sell to the soccer mom's tonight.
Just sucks that the only professional sport that I thought was legit really wasn't tonight.

Ya i saw that, but I think that call at the end where they called the guy out of bounds to save time for the fg when he was clearly in bounds was the really big bad call.XXXIV wrote:Thats open to personal bias.Inuyasha wrote:Just sucks that the only professional sport that I thought was legit really wasn't tonight.
I thought the Pats mugged their way to victory in XXXVI with the blessing of PT and the hole 911 thing.
Did ya see that?...or no?....what I thought.
Tonight there was a series of really bad calls.
They mugged WRs for years, so I didn't see that game as much different. It rarely, if ever got called so I can't blame them for it.XXXIV wrote:Thats open to personal bias.

I don't buy into the Joey Porter "NFL wanted Patriots to win after 9/11" stuff at all, despite my intense dislike of the Pats.

How bout the text book intentional grounding the play before that wasnt called?Inuyasha wrote:Ya i saw that, but I think that call at the end where they called the guy out of bounds to save time for the fg when he was clearly in bounds was the really big bad call.XXXIV wrote:Thats open to personal bias.Inuyasha wrote:Just sucks that the only professional sport that I thought was legit really wasn't tonight.

Or the way Faulk was held on almost every play?
Just wanted to reiterate my belief that Alexander winning the MVP was a complete joke. I haven't seen an MVP taken out of more 3rd down plays than him...and he can't catch at all. Walter Jones should have won it before he did.
What horrible playcalling by Holmgren in tight clock situations.

I might as well do my rant now while I'm fired up. Let me count the ways Seattle was srcewed tonight:
1) The lame offensive pass interference on Jackson's TD. Michael Irvin made a living off pushing off, and this came no where close to any of those that were never called. Right there's 4 points.
2) Jackson's play near the end of the half. Why was that not reviewed? I'll give 'em Roth's qwuestionable TD, but why does this not even get reviewed? He had the ball across the goal line in bounds. One foot was in and his knee hit the pylon. 7 more points.
3) The whole series of 3 screwjobs in a row. Holding that was not holding. Hoarse collar that was not called. Then the QB gets called for an illegal block when making a tackle???? That was a sure 3 points, maybe 7.
There were more little instances, like the PIT linebacker jumping the gun but not getting called, the PIT WR holding but not getting called, etc....
Oh, and I can't ignore the fact that EVERY frocking trophy interlude has been with a Steeler. Oh wait, they gave Seattle a token one with Hasslebeck.
What a joke of officiating. I feel like this game was predetermined. Get the lardball his trophy at home. Check. Now please retire so I don't have to see him again.
It was a great season for Seattle. They finally got into the big game. Hopefully they can make it back and win next year. Just better hope they play the Texans so Seattle can get all the benefits like we saw tonight.

Incredible. Never have I seen such a pre-ordained piece of crap game in my life. The officials took away at least 2 touchdowns from Seattle, which put them in a nearly impossible position to try and come back from. Even after all the BS in the first half, Seattle was coming back, then the officials just took it away. Was this a football game or two-week long mini-series?
Several controversial calls. That key holding call called against Seattle was no worse than what the Steelers did several times, especially at the end of the game killing the clock.
But Seattle just kept shooting themselves on the foot, from missed long FGs. poor clock managment, dropped passes.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh made some unbelievable plays -- some might say flukes -- to score or set up their 3 TDs. That pass by Rothlisberger was like a Hail Mary. Throw it across the field and up? So things went their way.

That's the perfect word, pre-ordained. IT did feel like I was watching some script and not a game. Love how they had the Bus miked up but no one on seattle was miked up at all. This is what we get these days, corporatations managing outcomes of sporting events.b_assassin wrote:Incredible. Never have I seen such a pre-ordained piece of crap game in my life. wow, I see I'm not the only one a little suspicious of the timing of all the phantom penalties. But you're right, the officials, whether they intended to or not, stole this game from Seattle.DivotMaker wrote:I could give a rats ass who wins this game, but the favoritism shown to Pittsburgh is absolutely pathetic in this game. These officials are not even trying to hide the bias....Tagliabue should be ashamed.
I can't believe what I'm reading! I thought I was just imagining things, but you guys saw it too? I'd like to see what Leebo and other Steeler fans say about the game.Inuyasha wrote:That's the perfect word, pre-ordained. IT did feel like I was watching some script and not a game. Rants.....
It's official. Seattle has the ugliest f'n uniforms in the league. Seriously, whoever came up with the brilliant idea to have green on green is a MORON. I really hope they do away with them sooner than later.
On a side note, the KU/OU basketball game was a heck of a lot more enjoyable and exciting than the garbage I witnessed tonight for 4 hours!
p.s. Glad I didn't give in to all the Super Bowl hype this week and watch all the media b.s.
Lets get ready for March Madness, spring training, the NBA playoffs,......oh and hockey in June...

Strange thing is, this isn't the same Steelers team that swept through the AFC Playoffs.
The blitz wasn't breaking through the Seattle OL most of the game and Rothlisberger wasn't nearly as accurate as he's been.
He still was savvy and made plays with pocket presence and that key Hail Mary-like pass to set up their first TD.
