my main gripe right now is that I dont strike out enough. I am not getting too many hits (5-10 per game), just not striking out enough. I can almost always put the ball in play. Maybe I will stop using the contact swing altogether and see how that goes. If I lower the human contact slider or make CPU pitching faster, I am afraid I really wont get many hits at all.

Jack, if you haven't already, try turning off the strike zone. That worked for me.

I got this yesterday and have been playing all night. I loved MVP and I think this game is a step up. I started my Michigan dynasty last night. I am playing on MVP level and enjoying the hell out of the analog swing and new throwing features. I didn't start my dynasty until I had plenty of practice with the new features. I am 4-7 so far.

I renamed most of my players with kids from this years Wolverine team. I also added some kids of Michigan greats like Sabo,Morris,Abbott and Larkin. I care about this team more than the Reds I am playing with in MVP.

Recruting is fun and I love playing in all the parks.

I created my own stadium with a field turf infield and a diamond cut grass outfield. It's set on campus and my left and right field fences down the line are 30 feet high. I dropped the fences down to 10 feet in the alleys and centerfield. The dimensions of my park are 320 down the lines. 380 in the alleys and 420 in center. I like the added touch of the Michigan M behind home plate.

This game was a steal at 30 bucks. I am having a blast!!

No, he won't peel three out. He'll peel two out and the Best Buy $10 off coupon plus he'll equalize the purchase by moving something on Ebay. Only then will he own this game.

Are you high, my man? Two Old Hickories and change -- I'll use the $10 discount coupon at Best Buy!

Gotta make a run to my skates and my son's skates sharpened this afternoon. Might make a beeline to Best Buy while we're waiting for the sharpening to get done. You never know ... :)

Jack, I still want to get in some pucks with you. Haven't forgotten. My fault -- I need to carve out some time.

Take care,
PK

Sh*t -- I posted before I read this, Bad. You know my blueprint for gaming purchases all too well. I have two things for sale on eBay as I type, with the BB coupon printed out. :)

I don't know much about college baseball at all so please forgive me for sounding completely ignorant.

Does CU not have a college baseball program? I rented the game for my PS2 and wanted to play as CU, but noticed they are not in the game (as far as I can tell).

That would become a pretty big deal breaker for me.

I hate to threadjack, but if this game proves anything is that if Take Two can put out a great playing football game, it won't matter that they don't have an NFL license.

Neither CU or CSU have baseball programs. Couple of the smaller Colorado colleges have baseball, but I don't think there's a D-1 program in Colorado.

I dont think they are in it but you can create them. The create-a-team mode is pretty good and you can create their stadium too.

Think I'm finally getting better at the load and fire hitting. Managed to get 5 hits against a very good Ga. Tech team, including a 3-run HR and then followed it up with a 10-hit performance against a crappy Michigan State squad.

Two things I really enjoyed--going for a power swing with my #4 hitter, ready to unload if the pitcher threw a first-pitch fastball. He did :) Also very enjoyable to recognize a changeup, wait for it, then rip a line drive hit.

One addition I'd love to see next year is actual summer league play where your top players can be invited to play in the Cape Cod league. Wonder if they could get that licensed so you'd have the real teams?

It doesn't prove anything...Take Two doesn't have a college license either remember? If MVP06 just had ALL fictional people in fictional places with fictional teams...only a few would buy it. The draw is that guys can use the NCAA teams their either attended or follow. That is likely not the case if it were just a completely fictional world, like a football game would have to be.

Awesome game...I still can't hit well with the Load and Fire but it is fun.

I have played about ten games against someone else offline and I am having a ton of fun. I have played some single player games and have been getting crushed by the computer on the Varsity level. I think I just need to practice my pitching more.

I do have a big onlien victory over Hulkster as I tied the game in the bottom of the 5th on him then won it in the sixth.

The honeymoon with this game is somewhat over with me. Still love the new controls, but me not really knowing anything about College Baseball is taking the fun out of the game. I don't get the caring for your player feeling most of you are getting. It's just not doing it for me.

I went back and played mvp05 and still loved it. Even a year later, there are things in that game that I haven't seen before.

Quick question - are you playing random games or in a dynasty? I'm almost playing in the dynasty mode exclusively, so that has really helped give me a sense of "attachment" to my players. One example is my fairly highly-rated LF who has committed a couple errors and can't freaking buy a hit so far. Through 7 games, I think he only has one hit.

No shame in the game not being for you. People not caring or having a clue about college baseball is obviously EA's biggest hurdle with this game.

Caring?

It's not like I want to pack up a big pup tent and take my team on a trip to Brokeback Mountain.

MVP has real Major League players. For the most part if your a fan of MLB you know who they are and how they play. With the NCAA version of the game it's a matter of using the talent you have the best you can. It's a blast to me. But if you don't feel it,you don't feel it.

Why does this game prove that? They could put out a great looking / playing game regardless of a license if they want to, don't see what MVP NCAA has to do with it.

No one can say how well this game will sell, I think that no matter how much people like it, 2K6 baseball will still outsell it. So if you're looking to prove to Take Two that a niche game can sell, I'd say the jury's still out on that one.

The only thing this game really proves is, EA didn't sit on it's ass and let one of its better engines go to waste. Something TT / 2K have been unwilling to do at this point.

Neither CU or CSU have baseball programs. Couple of the smaller Colorado colleges have baseball, but I don't think there's a D-1 program in Colorado.
Air Force has a baseball program. They are the only one that's D1, to the best of my knowledge.
