PE5/Winning Eleven 9 - I Can't Get Over How Good It Is!

I googled SGN and first option was Seattle Gay News. then I found the gaming site. I'd been there before but not for months. looks like I'm not alone as it's filled with old news and dead forums. You have a ladder there? where?Granatofan wrote:Macca,
At least two of us will be online with WE9 on the PS2. We'll have a ladder over at SGN and we may be doing an honor league again, this time setting it around World Cup.

Backwards Compatible
Anyone know if this will be BC with the 360?
PES5 is, so I like the odds.

I scour the internet for this info about 3 times per week. I agree that it's likely, but no confirmation yet.FifaInspected wrote:Anyone know if this will be BC with the 360?

Re: Backwards Compatible
Has anyone tried it? I've been curious about this for a long time now. Apparently there are separate back-compat lists for NA and Europe, yet somehow PES5 is on the NA list. I've been too timid to try and import one just to find out. A few weeks' more patience, and I'll have WE9. Maybe that one will just magically work because PES5 is on the list, but I doubt it. I hope MS updates the back-compat emulator at least monthly. Half Life 2 is still screwed up, running a squeezed 4x3 in 720p, and apparently there are other glitches (I have seen some weird graphical things, but no getting stuck in walls or anything yet).FifaInspected wrote:PES5 is, so I like the odds.
Depending on how WE9 Xbox plays online for Xbox (or 360 if/when it becomes back-compat), I may have to dust off the old PS2 and get some component cables so I can play WE online. I can't seem to find the power chord. . . .
no. I was on sportsgamingnetwork, which was a lot close to the other SGN mentioned above. sg-nation looked quite a bit better.Granatofan wrote:Are you sure you were at Sportsgamingnation.com?
I might be interested in some of the league options for WE9 once I get it. I'll keep an eye on that site. thanks.
The emulator is currently on version 1.2. When the second version of the emulator came out, the emulator team made it clear that people should not expect updates every few weeks. Apparently, the Clancy games that were added for 1.2 were all close to being ready for the first release, but were held back for a few issues. Those issues were resolved and released. I have not read or heard anything about when the next update would be released.
Microsoft said that they are working on the most popular games and that the reason some other less popular games like the Barbi game made the list is because after updating the emulator, they will test all games and find that some now work because the code is similar to ones that did get fixed.
Major Nelson had an interview with one of the team members on one of his blogcasts in December and that is where i got this information.
If you want to sent feedback to MS about games you want backward compatible, send them an email at Backcomp@microsoft.com The guy Major Nelson interviewed said that they take a look at all emails even if they don't have time to respond to each one of them.
I have only played a few BC games on my 360. Halo2 looks pretty good and plays fine. NHL 2004 looks a little better and plays OK, but has a problem with the EA trax. I just had to shut down the music volume and that took care of it, but I don't think the emulator is by any means a perfect solution - but it is the only solution we are going to get. To me, it only matters for a few games that will becoming out - including the one mentioned here and MVP Baseball and also Arena football later this spring. I have no idea why we have seen so few sports games released.
There are conspiracy theories about secret handshakes between MS and EA to keep Madden off the emulator to sell more games, and to keep NFL 2K5 off as well. But i think it is more likely that there are technical issues holding them back.
I sent them an email and politely asked for MVP NCAA baseball to be BC. I still have my xbox, and it is not even the graphics that bother me - it is the controller. After just a few weeks with the new controller, it is hard to go back. The 360 controller fits my hands like it was designed for them. THe controller S feels heavy and awkward.
