I say Man U wins 1-0 in the 80th minute. I'm looking forward to the part timers getting to play in front of a huge crowd.

Did you see the side Sir ExLax put out for the first match? Retreads and reserves -- Howard, Bardsley, Brown, O'Shea, Pique, Silvestre, Jones, Richardson, Rossi, Saha, Solskjaer. Doesn't exactly shiver the timbers.

Doubt he'll make that mistake again.

Man Utd-Burton was never a contest, as you'd expect, 5-0. PK, it may interest you to note that the United side was, with one forced exception - a player now on loan at Royal Antwerp - exactly the same side that started the first leg. I suppose that makes sense. Given all the internal unrest that the Press would have you believe is rife at Old Trafford, along with the increasingly unstable position Sir ExLax apparently finds himself in, now might not be the best time to admit you sent out completely the wrong team for the first tie.

It pains me to say this but Man Ure appear to have some decent youngsters on the books, including an up and coming forward named Giuseppe Rossi who could potentially spend the next 15 years or so being a bloody good player. Sorry.

Regardless of the result, it must be fantastic for lower league sides to play at Old Trafford and Burton showed plenty of spirit, as did Nuneaton Borough in losing 5-2 to the Smogmonsters last night. Personally, I'm upset at Tamworth losing out to Stoke City on penalties, not only because they too put up a brave effort and survived a second half battering relatively unscathed, but because they beat my beloved HUFC in round two and it would have been much more soothing to see them go marching on for another round or three.

Yeah, I noticed Ferguson sent out nearly the same side. Very good points why he did that. Top punditry from you!

Rossi is an American, by the way. Born in New Jersey of Italian parents, so he has dual citizenship. He was an Italian Under-19 international player, as I don't believe he ever has donned Uncle Sam's uniform. Rossi scored 20 goals in 30 reserve games for United last season.

I also read Albion brought 11,000 supporters to Old Trafford. That's amazing for such a small club. Good for them!

Rossi is still eligible for the US Senior team. I'm sure there have been a lot of discussion at US Soccer to offer him a roster slot in Germany in order to lock in his National team future. It'll be hard for him to win a spot with the Azzuri while playing in England.

For those that don't know, Arena tried to call Rossi in the Scotland friendly, and Rossi declined....

"Clearly he's not interested in playing for the U.S. team, and if he's not then we're not interested in having him," says Arena, who says he spoke with Rossi about the possibility of a call-up for the U.S.'s recent friendly against Scotland. "We're not chasing around 18-year-old players that can't get games for their club team and tell me they want to play for Italy. It's a futile exercise."

Looks like Cheltenham v. Newcastle and Wolves v. ManU will be the FSC games of choice in the next round.

As much as I hate to say it, Cheltenham could be the giant-killer if Newcastle continues its current form.

I finally got around last night to watching the Fulham-Newcastle match from Monday, and it probably was the worst performance I've seen from the Magpies since I started supporting them in 1999. (I didn't see the loss to the Wigan reserves in the Carling Cup this year -- thank God.)

Newcastle had no attack, as I don't think Antii Niemi ever was challenged in the Fulham goal. Plus the Newcastle back four is the EPL's version of the Keystone Cops. What a joke. And the opponent was Fulham, not Chelsea or Liverpool.

Souness MUST GO NOW. I'm so sick of hearing him use injuries as an excuse. Any club that splashes out 50 million in transfers in one year should have the depth to cover injuries.
