The new batting system looks pretty good. Although I am usully not crazy about a power/contact interface. I really like the load and fire idea. I think that is fantastic.
I will be purchasing this on day 1.

No MLB MVP game...3rd party companies (EA, Acclaim, etc.) can no longer make MLB games.JackB1 wrote:the method of swinging is nothing new....one of the Dreamcast bb games had this.
is the college baseball game the only one coming out this spring? Will there be a MLB MVP game?
As far as the DC having a similar hitting mechanism...World Series Baseball on the DC had a right trigger swing mechanic - not a right analog stick swing.

No wonder why you gave lectures about video games if you know that fact.Diablo25 wrote:No MLB MVP game...3rd party companies (EA, Acclaim, etc.) can no longer make MLB games.JackB1 wrote:the method of swinging is nothing new....one of the Dreamcast bb games had this.

LoL. The only reason I remember that is because I was VERY excited for that game and when it finally arrived it was a huge disappointment. The previews of the game looked sick and it was a big let down.Zlax45 wrote:No wonder why you gave lectures about video games if you know that fact.Diablo25 wrote:No MLB MVP game...3rd party companies (EA, Acclaim, etc.) can no longer make MLB games.JackB1 wrote:the method of swinging is nothing new....one of the Dreamcast bb games had this.

WSB sure looked GREAT on the DC even though you couldn't even control your damn fielders! Just seeing that game on the kiosk blew me away, which prompted me to rent a DC, which prompted me to buy one ...
The Dreamcast still is the most innovative, cool system I've ever owned.
Take care,
PK

PK, yes I did. Thanks!
2 weeks to go for MVP and I am real excited. I have realized after all this time that baseball and soccer are the only sports games I can and want to invest time into.
I hope beyond hope that MVP surpasses all other baseball games. It still is the one sport that has nopt even come close to getting it right. So much room for growth.
It sounds so promising.[/quote]

Hulkster, a few things kept MVP, which is a great game that I played a bunch, from achieving greatness.
#1. the idiotic press up to hit fly balls
#2 The lack of fielder cam, which after ASB, I feel is a must...(NCAA wont have it either)
#3 I didn't feel like I was playing in a stadium. I want a baseball game to put me in one.
I loved their contact zone system, if I hit the ball early, the batter is on their front foot and I more then liekly pop up....very realistic.
The fielding was fun, but I prefer ASB's fieldercam. It is incredible even though it lacked many animations.

Hulkster, I agree.
I love swinging the fielder cam around my outfielder in old Tiger Stadium, and seeing out of town games on the scoreboard that are actualluy true, not the same old made up score that never changes.
ASB has some shortcomings, but again, it puts me in the stadium. 3 years ago I would have never thought I would say this.
I have squeezed the last drop of blood out of the gameplay in ASB 2005 and sometimes its shortcomings piss me off to no end. I still go back to it though.
Jim at Op Sports boards updated the rosters last August so I now play as the Washington Nationals which really are the Expos. So for the most part the rosters are up to date.
Only 13 days till MVP NCAA...I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

The videos are good and the gameplay looks similar to MVP 2005. The throwing system and throw meter are a bit different from last year. Same with the hitting system. Everything else looks similar which is a good thing.
However, I don't believe the game will be nearly as good as MVP 2005 because of the lack of major league faces, names, signature swings, signature pitches, etc. With all the MLB related mods over at mvpmods.com the MVP 2005 game is extremely good and gives you a feeling like you're at the ballpark or watching a major league game on TV. I believe MVP 06 will be a disappointment because of the generic names, faces, and everything else that goes with losing the MLB licensing.
It's too bad the exclusivity wars had to start. I really hate not having an MVP06 MLB related game for the PC this year. Similar issues with football although I'm more of a Madden fan anyway.
