Agreed. But this is one season in which it sure seems the two best teams in the land are matched on the field Wednesday night.
Take care,

There were some good games yesterday (Bama/TTech and WV/Georgia) but I agree that in the grand scheme of things they were meaningless. I don't want to beat a dead horse but I do want to see some sort of playoff installed in NCAA football. I'd rather watch the NCAA 1AA playoffs then the Bowl games.
That fake punt by WVU was ballsy and cool as hell.

Edited for the truth...
Now points you failed to mention...
First: you left off Navy which had a winning record and won a bowl game.
Second: Notre Dame beat a couple of top 25 teams (at the time of the game). BC beat none.
Third: Notre Dame did play the #1 team in the nation down to the wire, when few expected them to. BC choked in each of it's big games on National TV (Va Tech - FSU).
Fourth: As bad as the Michigan St loss was it happened early in the season. The North Carolina butt kicking BC took was toward the end and far more humiliating.
Fifth: BC fans should not use the term BIAS in their replies.
At the time I thought the fake punt was ballsy. However, the more I think about it, it was the right move either way. Georgia had been moving the ball at will for most of the game. If Georgia got the ball back, they most likely would have won.

Arghhhhh!!!! Nothing more frustrating than setting Tivo to record the game starting at halftime, going through the local news and through Nightline and still not getting the whole game. Saw the first OT and was in the dark from there. One heck of a game. Both defenses were brutal tonight. Can only hope that tonight's game is as good as this one.

Defenses were tough but they were playing so conservative, you hope tonite's game, they open things up as expected.
Watching that kicking display was brutal. Glad PSU won because they're B10 but man, that was ugly and cost me at least an hour sleep.
And I am one that hates both the NFL and NCAA OT rules. I hate the first to score thing but I'm also no fan of giving a team the ball at the 25. Paterno went into total shell mode with the ball in OT, and why not? It's only a 42 yard kick from the start. Give the teams the ball at the 40. Make a team get a first friggin' down.

Good game last night, nice to see Paterno get the win. True that the kicking game drew the game out, but it was amazing how close those OT kicks were. FSU and Penn St. kept centering the ball instead of compensating for shanking
The NCAA OT rules make for good TV but remind me too much of penalty kicks. Honestly, both the NFL and NCAA should switch things up a bit. Use the NFL version but allow each team one possession. For playoff games where you can't have a tie, use regular sudden death rules for a second OT.

I could not disagree more with this. Special teams is an essential part of the game and the college football overtime setup completely takes it out of the game.

That'd be fine if they allowed the other team a chance to respond. I never have understood the logic in the winner of the coin toss essentially getting the upper hand. Sounds alot like the BCS system in general...

This is not true statistically during the past 10 years. In the article the Penn State economist stated, "The analysis finds with 99.99 % certainty that the [coin] flip has made a difference in the outcome of the game over the last 10 years," he concludes. "But for the period prior to those 10 years, the coin flip cannot be shown to be important."
I did a Google search on this earlier prior to Brando's post and also saw reference to additional research in which the same conclusion was drawn.
I have never seen a coach defer once winning the OT coin toss even if they had an outstanding defense and pitiful offense.
