For the Record

Post by Hood »

The last two posts in the now locked soccer thread cracked me up.

I will most definitely be adding "Sugarshanks" to the repertoire. That's some pretty high comedy.

And Scoop's post was the perfect Cous de Gras.

Well done.

For the record...don't start pointless, antagonizing threads.

There is a reason the first was locked...do you really think mods will be happy you're opening it back up?

Hope you enjoy your vacation!

Hood,

There are basic rules in forum etiquette about adding extraneous posts that are off-topic. First, they should always be prefaced with an "OT:". Second, it's considered bad form to start threads that don't have a point. Third, it's EXTREMELY BAD FORM to restart a thread that has been locked by the moderators.

I'm not sure what your prior forum experience is, but all this stuff is a no-no. Please follow some basic forum etiquette rules before posting. If you can do that, you're more than welcome to post here. If not, you're going to have to post somewhere else.

UPDATE: I didn't have a chance to read the rest of the soccer post when I posted this...and I noticed that you made this post AFTER a supposedly conciliatory PM. You're either trolling on purpose or are absolutely clueless regarding forum etiquette. Maybe you're used to unmoderated forums, but that isn't what we have here. Regardless of whether you're doing this on purpose or not, you need a break from the forums. So you will be given a temporary ban. I'll give you a chance to say your piece (either here or via PM) before your temp ban.

Hood -

I didn't really have a problem with you or your postings, except that you're from NY ;)

But doing stuff like this thread is going ot get you banned from here real quick. I'm sure you don't care either way, just giving you some FYI material.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

The absolute truth of the matter is I started this thread with not the slightest bit of sarcasm in mind.

I honestly laughed out loud at the mobiggins' "sugarshanks" and Scoops final post.

From where I sit, that was legitimately good stuff.

And yet there is still no point to this thread...regardless of "where you sit". Please don't start a thread after you take a particularly satisfying sh*t.

I just saw Jared's post. I had no idea about any "OT" concept, nor did I know the rules about pointless threads. In any event, the point of my thread was a little gesture of good will. Like I said, I honestly found that stuff funny.

I've got absolutely no reason to blow smoke up your ass (Danimal, you pretty much hit the nail on the head), but I'm not one for being full of s***, and that is simple fact of the matter.

And from where I sit, as moderator, it was continuing an already antagonistic thread AFTER it had been locked. It takes a pretty big lack of common sense to not know that locked threads are locked for a reason and are not to be restarted. Along with that, the frequenty inane thread posting, and the animosity in the soccer post, you're taking a time out from the forums, to be unbanned in the near future. E-mail me at editor@digitalsportspage.com if you have any questions.

Good job, Jared. I don't think he had any idea what type of meaning his subject line, "For the Record," would really take on.

This is a nice one for the record.

Good lord.

The pussification of America continues in earnest.

And hey, PK, in light of the messages we shared, I can say in all honesty that your performance in this regard is nothing short of disappointing. The purpose of this thread was clearly (or maybe not so at first) to douse the flames. Like I said, a gesture of good will. I find it incredibly surprising that you didn't work that out initially or that my subsequent message did not make that crystal clear. Or maybe the fact that it did not comport with proper "forum etiquette", made it all just too much to bear.

Take care,
Sugarshanks.

PS: Hey Danimal, do your best to have fun around here. And make sure mind your forum etiquette, which I guess means complaining about your sprained uterus when somebody throws whatever self-righteous garbage your spewing back in your face. The funny thing is, I was responding to that holier-than-thou nonsense with virtual kid gloves.

PPS: Anyway, happy trails fellas, the Bad Guy will never bother you again.

There was something unsettling about "Hood" from his very first post. His abrasiveness really shined through. Just didn't have a good feeling about him sticking around too long.

Jared,

Has the forum etiquette rules been posted yet? For newcomers, that would be good to read prior to posting.

What can I say? No one in here is as f*cking clever as you. We collectively keed to your brilliance.

Seriously, anyone stupid enough to circumvent a temp ban with a new ID is headed for a permanent IP ban. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Take care,
PK

Dan, I really think anyone who will bother to read any forum etiquette sticky will not be the type of individual who would need to read it to avoid being a p. in the a. I could be wrong, but that's the way it seems to me.

No...I didn't post it...I really go back and forth between whether it's necessary or not. I've got it half-written...it's just a matter of whether he should finish it or not.

And funny...I specifically banned his username and not his IP to see if he'd be stupid enough to circumvent the temp ban with a new username. Of course he did, and now it's a permanent ban.

As for things being a little more wild west...these forums are (in my opinion) a little undermoderated compared to others. I'm apt to let lots of things fly. But if you come into the forums with an attitude, inflated sense of self, little to contribute, and little respect for others, you're not going to last long.

Talk about an inflated sense of self...at least he didn't talk in the 3rd person.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Jared created Superior Man to drive away users of SR to his new up and coming site. Hmmm...makes ya think.

It's really weird...I have a serious problem with pronouns. My wife every now and then thinks that I should be studied, as do some of the professors around here. Really basic stuff like he and I will get completely screwed up in discourse on occasion....when I proofread it, I know the error, but in spoken/written output those kinds of mistakes will creep in.

That, and I have a giant ego, peons. :)

Yeah, it's not exactly just a "typo" because it flows so well, as if you really ARE talking about someone else. Oh well...it's just good comedy for the rest of us when it does happen to creep in. That's the first time I've noticed it though so you do a pretty good job of hiding it regularly.

There's not enough room for 2 misogynistic, egotistical, condescending New Yorkers in this forum. I'll take Zeppo over Hood any day. :D

Happy Holidays, DSP!
