OT: Insignia 30' Widescreen HDTV

Post by Atxj »

So I dropped all my christmas $$ on this set for 499$ from Best Buy today. It's not stellar and certainly doesn't compare to some of the sets alot of us have but it works for me.

Well, i've got it all setup where I want it and didn't mess with any of the settings yet. I remember reading about a DVD that you can use to calibrate it with and would like some advice on how to properly calibrate the picture and what not. All help is appreciated.

Here's a link to my set, http://www.insignia-products.com/pc-67- ... nputs.aspx

Just grab any DVD you have that's THX certified. It should have some calibrations on there to get you pretty close until you get the Avia or similar disk.

We bought this set on black Friday, we had for 24 hours, we hated it! No calibration can make this set look good! The ticker on MVP was crooked, real bad lines. We bought the 30" Panasonic from Circuit City, they had it on sale for $599 minus 10% coupon.

Like I said, it's not stellar by any means. But the 1080i HD for my 360 looks good and that's the main reason I got it.

I calibrated it with a THX Dvd and that helped alot. Cable TV on it is pretty grainy but I can live with it.

Maybe I got a bad TV? I just thought that the Panasonic compared to the Insignia was the difference between day and night and only $100 more with out the coupon.

It probably was, but I only had 500$ to spend.

Where can I get Avia?

I've read it's a much better tool to calibrate hi-def tvs with.

I'm pretty sure Best Buy or Circuit City has them.
