OT: Need major WindowsXP tech help!

with my bad drive i tried to do the windows recovery thing as well and i couldnt even get the command DIR to list anything on the drive. external enclosure didnt work either, havent tried actually putting it in the PC as a secondary drive.

luckily for me all i lost was some favorites and game saves.

Yeah, in the recovery mode you have limited commands at your disposal.

The best one in the list is the copy command, but notice the limitations. I know you can use Recovery console to copy files to your CD Burner, unsure about External devices.

Also may want to consider, booting from your USB Drive. IF you have a new BIOS you should see that option in you boot list. Now you will need to have your USB Drive have a bootable partition.

This is talking about a usb key, but the steps should be the same. Of course, the slave drive approach will work very well, if you can get your hands on a spare drive.

Well, the culprit is definitely the NV4_disp.inf file. But I'll be damned if I can figure out what to do about it...
