Man, I forgot how super a game Half Life 2 was. I rented it for the XBOX today just to see the XBOX "translation" and damn did Valve do a superb job porting this thing! Bottom line, if you have never played HL2 on the PC and are looking for a phenominal single player experience get HL2. It might be the best XBOX FPS I have ever played. Really nice game. Anyone else played it yet?

Diablo,
I've been playing this one for a few days now and am really glad I picked it up. I don't have a PC powerful enough to play the PC version so I was waiting for the Xbox port and I haven't been disapointed. The frame-rate does sometimes tip a bit but not enough to bother me yet and I just love the immersiveness (is that a word?).
Fantastic game.

Yeah, a few stutters here and there but the game delivers. Just what the Dr. ordered for those who dont have a powerful PC. And yes, immersive is the the wordMacca00 wrote:Diablo,

Yes I do...that doesn't mean I'm going to play it on the Xbox. I can play it at 1920x1200 in all it's glory on my PC...why would I want to run it on the xbox? Diablo apparently has played it on both since he said the port was done pretty well.sportdan30 wrote:Doesn't Db play HL on his PC? I'm curious how it compares.
Just wanted to give some updated impressions: this game just keeps getting more and more impressive! The vehicle stages are great - I'm now on the second vehicle stage (with the dune buggy). With the exception of the occasional slow-down I think this is probably one of the best looking FPS on the X-Box (the lighting is up there with Splinter Cell). The 5.1 sound is also great.
I'd totally recommend this to X-Box FPS'ers, especially if you're not lucky enough to be joining 360-dom tommorow.

Yeah, quiting might be a good call due to the fact that you cant transfer XBOX save files to the 360...or can you?abates21 wrote:I was absolutely blown away by this game. I never played it on the PC, but had heard all the reviews about it.
I've quit playing it the past few days waiting on the 360, but it sure will be nice to see it in 720p

I haven't read anywhere that you can transfer Xbox game saves to the 360. But surely a third party company can come up with a way? Xbox game saves obviously work fine on the 360's hard drive for all the backwards compatible games.
I stopped playing Ninja Gaiden two hours in because my Xbox gives me constant DDEs now, and Ninja Gaiden saves are locked to the hard drive, so I can't even put my saves on my Action Replay. So I either get a new Xbox or a 360 and start Ninja Gaiden Black again ... but if I get a 360 I can't play Winning Eleven 8 International anymore, and I certainly can't transfer over my option files and replay saves.

Just brought this thread back up as I finished this fabulous game this evening. The game took a total of around 11 hours to finish and is not only my favourite FPS of all time, but perhaps one of the best games I've ever played. The last 1/4 of the game is phenominal as you're leading squads in urban-based warefare.
The enemies are fantastic and I absolutely love the War of the Worlds-style Tripods - taking down one of those bad boys was one hell of a thrill -"eat THIS you son of a b*tch!"
I know this is probably old news with those who have good PCs but this is a must-have for FPS fans. I guess the only caveat is the loading times - not as long as Far Cry Instincts but occur a bit more often.
