For those getting a 360 on launch (or shortly thereafter)
Moderators: Bill_Abner, ScoopBrady
I got a second one today off of Wal Mart.com. I have already received a confirmation and my card has been charged. My plan is to sell the extra one on Ebay for a tidy profit. I'd love to get about $800 for it making my system free, but I'm sure there are going to be a lot on Ebay next week.
If the market gets flooded and I can't make any real money off of it, then I will gladly sell it to one of you guys for what it cost me...$432.95 shipped.

I also have a 2nd one ordered for EBAY sale. Its on the 2nd shipment from EB so Im guessing Ill get it in early December...maybe earlier. As Badgun stated above, If my EBAY plan fails then I'd be glad to sell it to anyone here for what it cost me.Badgun wrote:I got a second one today off of Wal Mart.com. I'm going to sell my Xbox 360 that I preordered, what do you guys think is the best way to do this to maximize my profit? Sell before Tuesday while the hype is still high, just in case there are more units available at launch than people are expecting? Wait until Tuesday to sell it when the people who couldn't find a system that day are desperate? Wait until closer to Christmas in case there are severe shortages? Start bidding at 1 cent to maximize the number of bidders, or try a high priced buy it now auction to protect my investment? I'm open to suggestions from all ebay vets, I'm really not sure how to best approach this sale.
Sell it quickly before the wave of dissapointment hits.HipE wrote:I'm going to sell my Xbox 360 that I preordered, what do you guys think is the best way to do this to maximize my profit? The 360 controller is the best controller ever made. I swear, somebody made a mold of my hands and then designed the controller from those molds. I can't imagine anyone not liking the 360 controller.
My ONLY beef with it is the fact that it's white. Sure, it looks great now. Let's see in a couple of months how she looks.
I would say that next week would be the absolute worst time to put it on ebay. There will be thousands of them for sale by Wednesday and not only will yours get lost in the shuffle, but I'm guessing you'll only get around $500 out of it. Let the market absorb all of the launch units so you can maximize your profit.HipE wrote:I'm going to sell my Xbox 360 that I preordered, what do you guys think is the best way to do this to maximize my profit? The shortage is real...if it wasn't we wouldn't be hearing so many horror stories about how someone was 15th on the list and now they're not getting one. I'd guess about the 2nd week in December when people really start to get frustrated would be the time to sell. Once we get the launch behind us, you won't see one in a EB or Gamestop that isn't reserved and the few that the Best Buys and Targets get will be gobbled up quickly.
I still think all of the talk of these things going for $1000+ is way over exaggerated. I think next week once the unit actually releases into people's hands that we'll see prices no higher than $475-$550 at best. There are a TON of speculators and they are going to flood the market with theirs next week. I'd dare say that there will be more sold on Ebay next week than there will be sold in stores.
I'm hoping to get $700 minimum out of my extra one, but I just don't see it happening unless I hold onto it for a few weeks. If I can only get $550 or so out of mine, I'd rather sell it to someone like db at cost plus shipping that to whore it out for a few dollars profit on ebay.
My thoughts are starting to echo yours for now. I do *want* a 360, but realistically (thoughts of psp come back) I don't *need* one right now.Leebo33 wrote:God, please give me the strength to *not* buy one of these systems on Tuesday. I've barely touched my Xbox over the past 2 months and I don't have HiDef. The games that look impressive I'm not that interested in (I usually play the average racer or shooter 2 weeks tops) and the games I'm interested in appear to be average ports of games I've already played. I like the idea of the XBL improvements, but I haven't played on XBL live much since the Rivals poker nights fizzled out. I'm also extremely disappointed in that joke of a BC list.
My strategy to *not* purchase one is to not go to Wal-Mart at midnight and then go to work on Tuesday. I know I can do that much. I can go for a run at lunch. The hard part will be to not search the stores after work. I cancelled my pre-order tonight at EB so waiting for the next shipment is not an option either.
If I can make it one week, I can wait until next fall when I will have a nice new TV and a finished basement to play in
I think it's going to be awhile before really good games come out and maybe the price will go down when the ps3 is upon us.
For now (stay away from wally world) I'm going to get an x800GT video card for my pc, which will allow me to play the games I've really been wanting to play - HL2, Doom3, Quake 4, COD 2, etc...
Although I can't wait to read some DSP impressions on the new system.

for real? if so, I'm glad i didn't take the shrinkwrap off of my 2k6 that I paid 59.99 less the 10% off coupon.Toper wrote:TheGamer wrote:I don't know if this is nationwide, but to the Chicago guys, the gamestop on 79th & Cicero (Scottsdale plaza) is selling NBA 2k6 for $49.99 and Madden for $54.99
That's a great price for 2k6...bestbuy's gonna have it on sale next week for $49, as well.

If you are getting that NBA 2K6 sale price at Best Buy from dealrush.com, it is a misprint. I just looked up the weekly ad online, and NBA 2K6 is in fact $59.99.SoMisss2000 wrote:for real? if so, I'm glad i didn't take the shrinkwrap off of my 2k6 that I paid 59.99 less the 10% off coupon.Toper wrote:TheGamer wrote:I don't know if this is nationwide, but to the Chicago guys, the gamestop on 79th & Cicero (Scottsdale plaza) is selling NBA 2k6 for $49.99 and Madden for $54.99

OK my wild goose chase plan evolves. There is a Walmart not far from the Best Buy that will be doing the midnight special. The Walmart should also be selling them as of midnight. So somehow I need to check both joints out.
But wait, what's this about a lottery system at Walmarts and BBs? Anyone know the skinny on how these stores will be doling out the merhcandise? What kind of lottery would this be?
Anyway, if the midnight deal isn't working for me, there are also two Targets not terribly far from each other that both open at 8am. I figure I have to pick one and try it out, and then head to the area where the other BB, CompUSA and Toys R Us are, all of which open at 10a. If the CompUSA gets any in, I figure that would be my best bet. But how to know for sure? I've been fed plenty of bad info from those CompUSA guys before. The only Sears is back over by the Targets, and it opens who knows when? I have to call. Maybe I can fit that in the plan as well.

Hey Hipe,
Actually, I got that 2k6 price from CAG and they're usually pretty reliable...I guess we'll see when the ad comes out Sunday morning.

C'mon, no one has any idea about this lottery they are supposedly doing at Walmarts and Best Buys? I have absolutely no idea what that means. Could I show up at 5 to midnight, and have just as good a chance to get a machine as a guy who's been sitting there for 6 hrs?
I've never experienced any kind of lottery for this type of thing (movie tickets, etc.), so I don't know what the best plan would be. My idea was to swing by the BB and see what the line looked like, and if it was too big, head to the Walmart and hope for good luck. But now, I don't know what the plan should be.
Anyone have a clue about this kind of lottery thing?

No idea about the lottery...I consider that bullsh*t if they do it that way though. It should be first come, first serve...if you don't get one, it's your own damn fault.
As for the system itself...now that I've hooked my Xbox up to my 24" Dell monitor, I'm fairly disappointed. I played a few games of MVP at 720p and it's still pretty pixelated. I guess it sucks when my monitor is TOO good for the system. I just imagine the 360 is just going to be slightly better...but when my monitor runs at 1920x1200, I'm sh*t out of luck when it comes to a smooth picture, even in HD. Damn.
