Well, right now EB is giving an extra 30% for all trade ins that go towards a 360. I got about $100 for my system, the DVD remote and an extra S-Controller.Jayhawker wrote:What's the going rate for an Xbox, anyway? Will you get significantly less after the 360 launch?Spooky wrote: I aslo traded in my PSP and my X-Box so that helped.

I picked up my Kameo pre order today. If you have a Kameo pre order with EB, they got them in today.
I also have pre ordered the following:
Madden
Perfect Dark Zero
Call of Duty 2
Project Gotham 3
Extra wireless controller
Play and charge kit
I also had preordered Ghost Recon 3 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion, but they have both been pushed back to next year.
I may also pre order Condemned as it looks interesting.

Yeah, it is kind of a hodge podge of styles. I think the game will mostly be pure eye candy and light fun. It probably resemlbes somehting like Zelda: OOT most. An action adventure game in that Zelda type vain but with seemingly very simplistic controls.dbdynsty25 wrote:I'm still trying to figure out what type of game Kameo is...

Just kidding Sport, that's great news.
Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
When presented with the option of NOT having my XBox 360 on launch day or polishing the knob of my local EBGames manager, I did what any techno-lust-suffering, games-addict would do. Don't pretend you would've done anything different!
The extra few weeks of blissful gaming time with my shiny new XBox 360 will certainly make up for the damage done to my dignity, psyche, and marriage. Of course, I'll forever be haunted by the sound of my EBGames manager saying: "You want Call of Duty 2, you better answer the call to duty in my pants - BE-ATCH!"

Not sure, some stuff is getting bumped from launch (GR:AW, Morrowind Oblivion, DOA4).sportdan30 wrote:Anyone have a list of what the second round of games is going to be? I'm wondering how long they're going to wait to release the next batch of titles.
If I pick up the 360 on launch, I'll most likely purchase NBA 2K6 or COD2.
I've seen videos of Oblivion on the last OXM demo disk and the game looks absolutely amazing. Especially the outdoor forest stuff.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

My pre-ordered games are CoD2, PGR3, GR3, and Oblivion. Since 2 have been pushed back till next year, I may pick up another title. Amped 3 might be fun, since I liked the first one a lot. Plus my daughter gets a kick out of it, and it's one of the few game I own that I don't mind her playing.
So we'll see, a lot of very good games have come out on the Xbox lately, so there's plenty of gaming goodness to go around.

I'm not sure if I'm getting any games at launch. If Madden ends up being good I will probably get that, but the video clips that I have seen have not impressed me at all. I think NBA 2K6 looks very nice, but since I have no interest in the NBA I can't see myself paying 60 bucks for it.
When I paid off my preorder at EB the other day, the clerk gave me crap about not preordering anything other than the system, he said I needed to buy more stuff to make their store look better to the EB corporate office. He suggested that I take the money I was using to pay the system off and put it towards some games, a battery pack and an extra controller. He told me that when I only order the system, it makes me look like I'm a customer that is not serious about the Xbox 360, whatever that means.

From scanning the release lists, it looks slow until around Feb or so.sportdan30 wrote:Anyone have a list of what the second round of games is going to be? I'm wondering how long they're going to wait to release the next batch of titles.

No sh*t! I absolutely amazes me what some of these stores are actually saying to their customers. It's interesting becasue my manager at EB did mention that there is a push to get more accessories and things other than 360 units pre-ordered this month, but never in a million years would he ask or expect any of us to specifically tell people that they should or need to pre-order. He leaves it up to us to try and find professional, creative ways to assist in getting those #'s up.fsquid wrote:I would have told him to f*** offWhen I paid off my preorder at EB the other day, the clerk gave me crap about not preordering anything other than the system, he said I needed to buy more stuff to make their store look better to the EB corporate office. The Manager at my EB didn't really 'urge' me to buy anything. I made sure to ask if there was anything I could do (within legal and sexual limits) to return the favor for allowing me to get a 'launch' system...
Pre-ordering accessories seemed like a win-win situation. I was going to need an extra controller, battery, and the Play & Charge kit anyway, so why not pre-order and help him look a little better to corporate.
If you want the advantages of being a good & loyal customer (like actually getting a 360 at launch) then you shouldn't mind being prompted by the store manager for items/orders that will benefit the store/manager. In addition, there is certainly truth to EB allocating systems & other items to stores with a history of higher revenue returns, so you're doing yourself and your neighbors a favor every time you help your local store succeed.
That said, I still can't appreciate how my hands opening a game degrades it's value by at least 50%, while the pure god-like hands of an EB employee can open a game without lowering its value at all...But that's a debate we've had before...
PS> Do any EB employees know if items purchased online for IN-STORE pickup are 'counted' for the local store's 'numbers'? As I said, I want to help my local store, but I have PayPal cash I could use to pay online and pick up in-store. Thanks.

Speaking of EB, it seems like the shortage of pre-orders is official...at least at my local store. The manager told me last night they have 100 pre-orders and have been told they are only getting 33 units before the end of the year (16 at launch).
I can't imagine how much money this is costing EB/Gamestop. I looked last night and didn't see anything at Yahoo finance confirming it, but I imagine if this is true it should be reported in the financial news at some point.

I thought I was being a good and loyal customer by choosing to spend my money at my local eb when I could go to many other places to spend my money instead. Oh well....Sport73 wrote:If you want the advantages of being a good & loyal customer (like actually getting a 360 at launch) then you shouldn't mind being prompted by the store manager for items/orders that will benefit the store/manager.
The constant prattle and badgering from sales reps at nearly every store you enter nowadays has driven me to buy more and more online anyway.

Been there and done that. So what are they giving you for discounts now? I remember the good ol days when we got 20% and could rent new games. Oh those were good times. Now it's like 10% and no rentals at Gamespot. I don't need $5 off a game that badly to deal with video game customers.
You do have my sympathies though.
but it really helps their warranty quotasbdoughty wrote:Exactly plus new consoles = no used game sales for quite some time. My local EB guys despise the 360.
