It was still a great year to be an Astros fan--the Astros are a team that's fun to follow and cheer for, with the same bunch of guys who have been on the team for years or who are from the area. The team will probably be almost identical next year, minus Clemens and plus a new starting pitcher or two. I don't see those same qualities in the White Sox, and I don't think they will get the chance to defend their title next year.
I think the Astros' offense will be fine next year, except I'd try to find someone to replace Taveras, who I think is way overrated. Burke will be a .300 hitter in his prime, Berkman will be another year removed from his injury, and Lane will have his first year as a starter behind him. Lamb, if he starts next year, should bounce back from an off year. And Bagwell might be able to play some more.

The Astros seemed like the win over the cards was their World Series. But you can't go into a series on your heels vs a team like the whitesox.
Aside from the Series, I think the biggest issue right now is to rebuild the NL. 2 sweeps in a row by the AL is not a good thing.
I always root for the NL in the Series (yes even the cards). I think the NL represents 'real' baseball. Baseball the way it should be played, with strategy and small ball. It's time to rebuild.
Ironically, the WhiteSox played like a NL team and thats why they won.

Congrats to the White Sox and their fans...the playoff run they just had was the most dominant I've seen since the 2001 Lakers.
- I'm happy for Dye...always liked him when he was on the A's...we sure missed his bat in our lineup during the stretch run this year.
- Who would've thought that Backe would have the best World Series performance out of all the Astros starters?!?
- Too bad for Houston that they didn't have Bartman in the stands for that incredible Uribe catch.
- Gotta give some credit to the Indians for pushing the champs...I don't think the Sox would have been as successful if they would've just "cruised" into the playoffs (ala Cardinals...although injuries played a big part in their demise).
- Houston definitely has nothing to be ashamed of...I was very impressed by their class and heart they showed throughout the post season (especially in overcoming the "pujols game"...I, like many, thought they were "done" after that one).
- Overall, a great MLB season...the Yanks, Bosox, or Giants didn't win it all, so I'm happy.

Nice job White Sox! Great season!
As much as I hate the White Sox, I found myself pulling for them in the post season. Especially after the nice things Ozzie said about the Tribe. It's nice to see an AL Central team win it all.
But I'm sure by Opening Day, April 3, 2006, Tribe at White Sox, all these warm fuzzy feelings will be gone.
Man, I miss baseball already.

With Houston losing the series, I now fear that there will be a cry from fans and local media for another bat or two for that anemic offense. If I was a fan, I would definitely want them too. As a Cardinals fan, I'm not too excited about that thought.
Congrats White Sox. Houston, you have nothing to be upset about. I don't think there's another team in baseball that could have given the White Sox a better series. It was their time and boy did they take full advantage of it.

11 out of 12 and 16 out of 17 overall counting the sweep in Cleveland to end the season.Brando70 wrote: Congrats to the Sox. Tonight's game was indicative of how they play -- great pitching and defense. Uribe's plays in the 9th were spectacular. 11-1 in the postseason is really impressive.
We will now be gathering contestants for Who Wants to Overpay Paul Konerko?
There's also going to be some disgruntled customers tomorrow when Joe Crede calls in sick to Jiffy Lube.
Yes, I'm bitter.
Someone will make a crazy offer to Konerko. Hopefully the Sox will come close enough to keep him.
Crede is getting a hair cut which will get him fired from Jiffy Lube.
Great seaon..Incredible..Unbelievable and all that.
