I will be listening to nothing but Mozart's Requiem for the next 48-72 hours.
The only good thing about this tragedy is that it cast light on those weak-willed turncoats who previously and inaccurately referred to themselves as Cubs fans. I dearly hope that these Quislings keep themselves out of the ticket queues for Cubs games in '06. Not likely, but one can dream.

Rob, as a Cubs fan, was thinking the same thing myself. For the most part, Cubs fans are wrongly stereotyped as a bunch of party morons who happened to show up at a baseball game, and no one gives them credit for being very knowledgeable and true baseball fans.
However, with a stadium that can fill up for truly bad teams, you wonder about the sincerity of *some* fans. Maybe this Sox championship (*gag*, it's hard to write that) will thin out our ranks a little. That might not be a bad thing.
With the series pretty much over now, at least I won't have an image of jackass Sox fans going buck wild at Comiskey. They're going to win it at Houston.

Oh don't worry about that...the South side will see plenty of looting and destruction. Remember, all of the fans are at home right now just waiting for a reason to break sh*t, not in Comisky. Some hell is gonna break loose...just ask Piston fan.AJColossal wrote:With the series pretty much over now, at least I won't have an image of jackass Sox fans going buck wild at Comiskey. Thanks I needed a good laugh today. Nothing speaks knowledgeable like an entire fan base blaming their playoff collapse on the one unlucky guy who managed to grab a foul ball or better yet a goat. lmaoAJColossal wrote:For the most part, Cubs fans are wrongly stereotyped as a bunch of party morons who happened to show up at a baseball game, and no one gives them credit for being very knowledgeable and true baseball fans.

If by some miracle the Sox don't win the WS tonight, the rest of the WS is pretty much over for Houston. Clemens has had to take a cortisone shot in the left hamstring just so he can try to pitch Game 5 if necessary. If by another miracle, there was a Game 6, Andy Pettitte received a cortisone shot in his left (surgically repaired last year) elbow yesterday. Then, Chicago showed Oswalt that they were not impressed last night. So, congratulations to Sox fans. I just wish the Astros could have given a better accounting of themselves. Starting to appreciate how Cardinal fans felt about this time last year....AJColossal wrote:They're going to win it at Houston.

For some reason, I think the exact same thing is occurring here, just different teams.....surreal....sportdan30 wrote:Last year's World Series was just a complete blur for me. The Red Sox could do no wrong. Everything was clicking for them, and it really seemed over after the first game. Unfortunately, I think the Cards just expended all their energy in the Astros series and they had nothing left.

To be fair, the South Side is not nearly as bad as the West Side was during the Bulls championship years.sportdan30 wrote:Don't you recall all the looting after the Bulls championships? It's gonna be ugly. U.S. Cellular isn't exactly in the nice neighborhood in Chicago.

That's true, but I expect it to be pretty bad all over Chicago given they haven't experienced a World Series championship in what seems like forever.ScoopBrady wrote:To be fair, the South Side is not nearly as bad as the West Side was during the Bulls championship years.sportdan30 wrote:Don't you recall all the looting after the Bulls championships? Need a safe refuge in Chicago? Might wanna check out Boys Town. Should be relatively quiet around there.
My company is located on the west side.ScoopBrady wrote:To be fair, the South Side is not nearly as bad as the West Side was during the Bulls championship years.sportdan30 wrote:Don't you recall all the looting after the Bulls championships? Just spoke to a sgt from the 11th dist. He doesnt expect it to be like the Bulls championships but like he said...Anything can happen and when it does it happens fast..

Let's agree to disagree, then.Danimal wrote:Thanks I needed a good laugh today. As a Yankee fan I have to admit I was feeling the same way during last year's ALCS. Pedro was tired and couldn't go more than 5 innings, Schilling looked like he was done with his ankle, the Yanks had pounded the Sox for 19 runs the night before, and they were up 3-0. Life was good. We all know what happened then.DivotMaker wrote: If by some miracle the Sox don't win the WS tonight, the rest of the WS is pretty much over for Houston. Granted the CWS have a much better pitching staff than the 2004 Yankees but until that fat b*tch starts belting her final tune I will never make the mistake of counting a team out again. All the Stros need is one victory to get themselves rolling.

If I were a Cub's fan I would be happy if the Sox win. perhaps it will finbally get the Cub's brass to get their act in gear and do something.AJColossal wrote:Let's agree to disagree, then.Danimal wrote:Thanks I needed a good laugh today. While I agree that the Astros were anemic offensively, St. Louis had their shot and lost. I also don't like to lament the past but if Houston had Jeff Kent and/or Carlos Beltran along with a healthy Jeff Bagwell, then Houston would not have hit as poorly as they did. When you have a guy who hits 36 HR during the year hit ONE HR the entire postseason, you know something is wrong. Before tonights game, the Astros were hitting .211 and the Sox were hitting .308. Doesn't take long to do the math there....Theo wrote: I really believe the Cardinals would have put up a much better fight than the Astros. I mean come on, we can't win 1 game with our pitching staff? Pathetic.
Congratulations to the White Sox. You were the best team in this World Series and are very deserving champions.
Time for Tim Purpurra and Uncle Drayton to go shopping for a replacement for Clemens (assuming he is done) and some offense.
No, I'm bleeding out of my backside.Danimal wrote:

Congrats to the Sox. Tonight's game was indicative of how they play -- great pitching and defense. Uribe's plays in the 9th were spectacular. 11-1 in the postseason is really impressive.
We will now be gathering contestants for Who Wants to Overpay Paul Konerko?
There's also going to be some disgruntled customers tomorrow when Joe Crede calls in sick to Jiffy Lube.
Yes, I'm bitter.
