It's hard to say. I was very distracted after shitting my pants. The Wal-Mart employees kept asking me to leave because the stench was driving away the customers. :D

It's hard to judge how King Kong played because I had no idea what I was doing. I kept getting eaten by a T-Rex or watching one of my comrades get eaten by it. I know I was supposed to distract it but I didn't know how to. Even without having a clue what I was doing the whole experience was amazing.

COD2 ran smoothly and the controls worked great. It's a first-person shooter set in WW2. It's highly regarded on the PC. I don't know what you want to hear but it played fantastically.

Kameo seemed like your typical Rare action/platformer (Banjo Kazooie) fare.

It's hard not to talk about how the games look Matt. That's how good they look. Kameo looked like you were playing a CG. COD2 looked like you were at war. King Kong looked like you were in a storming jungle at night with a big, badass dinosaur chasing you. They all looked far better than anything we've seen on consoles at this point. The enemy AI in COD2 seemed to be remarkable but I didn't really put it through its paces.

I'll never buy a console platform rail shooter so I'll stay away from COD2 regardless (mouse and keyboard, mouse and keyboard)...but keep in mind, that's always been the downfall of that engine....the AI. The rail shooters have less than realistic AI because it knows where you're going to be at all times by pointing you in the right direction (either by commands given to you or blocking off access to certain points until you pass another point). Events are triggered when you get to a certain spot...and from what I've been reading, it's same old same old with COD2. Nothing has changed with all of the Medal of Honors and the first COD (and it's expansion pack)...I don't know why it would now.

I know...debbie downer...but you guys should really get past the shiny new coat of paint. Hard to do at a kiosk, I know, but I have a feeling there are gonna be some heads rolling when you get it home.

Yeah, it is hard at a kiosk to evaluate games. Madden 2001 looked great and probably played great at a kiosk. I bought the game at release for PS2 and it still took a little while to realize the game was broken and couldn't be fixed with sliders.

Better play it sooner than later, because Wal-Mart is shutting down all the kiosks because of interference it's causing with their scanners.

COD2 played amazingly smooth. Again, I felt like I was playing it on a high end PC with absolutely NO slowdown. It just had that 'feel' to it. That was the really noticable thing too, the graphics were great, yes, but what was so awesome was the overall smoothness on top of a mind boggling number of effects and action going on around you. It definitely had the feel of a next-gen title in that respect.
I preordered it last night :) Being an American History teacher, I just can't resist a good war game 8)

I've been updating my HDTV setup the past few months getting ready for the 360. Last night I added a digital audio cable for my surround sound system. My setup, if I must say is looking pretty nice right about now :) I have a DVI cable ordered to hook my Digital Set Top Box to the HDTV.

47" Panisonic HDTV
Pioneer Surround Sound Home Theater
Panisonic DVD Recorder
XBOX...soon to be XB360
Just put in a new 5 shelf entertaiment center for all the above to sit on.

Man, I'm a tech geek.

Lol! In reality, it's because that giant power pack is obstructing access to the Cheetos aisle.

Yeah, it's real, but according to what I read it's not uncommon because some devises used in retail environments may not be compliant with FCC/ETSI regulations.

I've read some impressions form PC gamers who were underwhelmed by the demos.

They see no AA or AF and the resolution isn't higher than what they're used to.

Then there are reports that some of the kiosks were set up improperly so they were outputting 480i instead of 720p.

Supposedly they are rolling out the kiosks to GameStop as well. Don't want to have to step into a Wal Mart.

I wouldn't doubt it if the kiosk I played was in 480i. It was so hard to tell becasue of the horrible angle and close proximity of the display.

PC gamers tend to be less antagonistic to Xbox than the other consoles.

Plus people are impressed with the potential of Xenos on paper.

But it appears at least with the launch titles, the promised "free" AA may not materialize because they got the final developers kits so late.

The Wal-Mart on 75th Street just East of Lemont Road. I think that's Downers Grove isn't it?

I don't understand the mouse-keyboard superiority stuff anymore. Yes, the mouse is much better for aiming, but using the keyboard for movement absolutely blows. I think the aiming issues for consoles have gotten much, much better. I like PC FPS, don't get me wrong, but I don't think the gap is that big anymore, and being able to play COD2 with a 40 inch high-def display and my full surround system more than compensates.

Went back to wal mart last night and my son completed the Call of Duty demo. This game looks like it's going to be one of the best, if not the best launch title. The AI is very smart and the animations are as fluid and realistic as I have seen. Call of Duty is a must have, in my opinion. If you want a game that shows off the system, this is it.

King Kong looks great, but I doubt I will buy it launch day as I have about 6 titles already preordered, but I may still get it if a couple of my choices don't make the launch.

Bah. Who cares about what PC gamers think. That ship sailed a long time ago.

The keyboard allows you to strafe while shooting...how many console shooters allow you to do that by just pressing left on the joystick? And if they do, you have to hit a strafe button, the shoot button and the joystick all at the same time.

I'll stick with the keyboard for control in a shooter EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. Not to mention the fact that you can quick switch to your particular weapons instead of cycling through them. There are a ton of reasons why the keyboard and mouse setup dominates a controller when it comes to shooters.

The 360 may surpass the PC in video performance...but until there is a good MK setup, it will always be second rate from a control standpoint.

I tend to agree with this. I think the mouse is much too easy to aim with. I like the fact that it takes some time/coordination to acquire (and reacquire) a target when using a controller. Both have their positives though.
