Pathetic umpiring in the Cards/Astros game. Maybe the worst ball/strike call I've ever seen (against Edmonds) I'm not exaggerating when I say that.

Yeah, the umpiring was bad, but the Cards are just flat out being outplayed.

LaRussa got tossed when the calls were not actually bad. Edmonds' was a joke, but you still have to get back in and play. Dropping the F-Bomb was just stupid. But the slo-mo on him calling the ump a p***y as he headed for the tunnel was funny as hell.

The fact remains, they put up one run on Backe. No way do they deserve to complain about this game. I'd still favor Carp over Pettite next game, but no way do I think the Cards can sweep Pettite, Oswalt, and Clemens. That's insane.

They HAD to have this game, and they put up one frickin' run. Gut wrenching, to say the least.

I've said, not here, but to friends here in St. Louis, that the Astros worried me more than any other team in the playoffs. That rotation is sick, and Lidge own the Redbirds.

Yeah, I'm rooting for the Astros, but that call was just pitiful.

Large strike zone all day (for both sides), but when Larussa puts the mind set in before the game that the umpires are against you, you will put that in the minds of the players. Meltdowns ensue.

Demoralizing loss to say the least. Very hard to stomach that one. However, even if the Cards tied the game, I would have had no confidence in the bullpen in the 9th or extra innings.

Lidge was hittable tonight and I think the Cardinals have seen him enough now to at least get good at bats vs him... makes me realize just how good of a hitter Pujols really is.

A definite joke of a call on the Edmonds strike, but what can you do? Only scoring 1 run on Backe killed this game for us, too bad because Suppan pitched his ass of once again.

It's time to see if Carpenter can do it again.

Actually, a number of pitches that Isringhausen made in the 9th inning of game 1 were comparable to the call on Edmonds. While I disagreed with the call and feel Edmonds got screwed, he screwed himself with the F bomb. He knew better and ultimately let his emotions hurt his team when they needed him....

While Pujols can literally hit anyone, I don't think a couple of hits off of Lidge means that the Cards have figured him out. He has still given up ONE RUN to the Cards in over 2 YEARS. While Lidge made the 9th more interesting than I would have liked, you really have to give credit to Pujols and Walker for trying to make SOMETHING happen....

I don’t post much on forums but been lurking here a long time and thought I would post about tonight's WHITE SOX AL PENNANT WIN.

If you grew up in Chicago and were a fan of Chicago baseball regardless of being a Cubs fan or Sox fan, tonight is truly a special night.

Growing up in Chicago (Cubs Fan here), we've always heard about one of our teams being in the World Series in 1945 or 1959 or 1917. They were great stories but they all seemed like fairy tales, dreams, since we never had teams in recent history that were any good to make it there. The word's CHICAGO and WORLD SERIES were something that was like winning the lottery or reading Roman history, always unattainable.

But now it's come true. It doesn't matter what team you support, this is a big big big night for the city of Chicago and Chicago baseball fans. YES WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A WORLD SERIES IN OUR CITY! Many of you out there in other towns may not think that this is a big deal, but for us in Chicago, it's basically like Jesus came back. It is truly unreal and indescribable. Its a complete mind blowing experience for the Chicago baseball fan who weren't around for 1945 or 1959.

So from a Cubs fan, thank you White Sox. One thing I've always wanted before I died was to see a World Series in my City. I would have loved for the Cubs to do it but I want to truly thank the White Sox for making a dream come true.

Wow...total domination by the Sox staff...that was impressive. Congrats to all of the long-suffering Sox fans...this has really been an amazing season for them so far. Should be a great series against both the Cards and Astros. Hopefully the Stros can finish of St. Louis so we can see a couple teams go at it that haven't won the series in a long ass time or not at all.

Whoa whoa whoa...first of all, welcome...second of all, slow the hell down. Like Jesus coming back? Are you kidding me? You're a damn Cubs fan...you should be pissed. I would be shocked if the NL winner took more then a game from the White Sox in the World Series. The Cards or Astros just don't have the pitching that the White Sox do. Yes, the Astros have Clemens and Oswalt and the Cards have Carpenter. Clemens tends to get overexcited for big games see 1990 Game 1 of the ALCS or Game 3 of ALCS in 1999 (could have been 2003 too not sure) against Pedro.

I've been a Cubs and Sox fan for as long as I can remember (I'm 33 now) and I never, ever thought I would see either of them play in the World Series. I always get a kick out of Cubs fans who hate the Sox and Sox fans who hate the Cubs. I've had it twice as bad being a fan of both. I actually cried when Paulie touched first base to send the Sox to the World Series. Words can't describe how I feel right now. It is very surreal. This was unimaginable for me and now it's a reality. My wife thinks I'm crazy for being so emotional over this. She just doesn't understand. If I seemed bitter during their rough stretch it's because I've seen the Cubs and Sox get my hopes up so many times over the years only to rip my heart out. I'm on top of the world right now and if the Sox actually go on and win it all the years of pain will be worth it.

You forgot about Pettite. I'd say going against 3 A-list starters is something to worry about. I'd love to see the Astros go up against the Sox. The Cards are blowing it, so I'd rather see 2 teams go at it that have not been there for a long time (or ever).

Even though I am a Brewers fan, I can root for the Astros. After all, it's not like the Brewers have been bitter rivals with anyone other than maybe the Cubs. You have to at least be competitive to have a rivalry

Reading that puts a smile on my face this Monday morning. It brings back memories. I know exactly how you feel, as a life-long-suffering fan, seeing your team FINALLY win a pennant. I can't believe it's been 10 years now since I felt the same thing.

As much as I enjoy hating the White Sox all season long, for some reason I find myself rooting for them this post season.

Here's hoping they can take it one step further.

Definitly giving Walker credit, plus he made a baserunning play that was unreal and still should have gotten us a run.

Are you kidding me? 5 seconds into the shouting match and he's ejected for the F bomb? HA-HA, that ump is an ass and had no idea what a strikezone is or should be.. and he wanted to be in the spotlight seeing himself on ESPN this morning.

As usual, MLB picks the shittiest umps for the playoffs and world series, I thought these were supposed to be the cream of the crop?

I'm still surprised at how many Cubs fans can root for the White Sox as well as fans having allegiances to both teams. It's unbelieveable. Living in Chicago for a few years, I got a chance to listen to sports radio on a daily basis and there was just so much animosity between the two fan bases. I gotta believe the forum posters on here from Chitown are not the norm.

That said, if the Cards don't come back from 3-1 down Go Whitesox!

Minute Maid Park is a disgrace of a ballpark.
