We can't have day games during the Championship Series, now can we? At least they can say that the NBA's first round is still the most asinine playoff format.dbdynsty25 wrote:So let me get this straight...we get to see every division series game, but when it comes to League Championship Series games, we've gotta decide between the two leagues? Are you f*cking kidding me?
I'm really tired of hearing how the Sox are a small-ball team. They aren't.

Scoop, they were 5th in the league in home runs. They only finished one spot ahead of the Twins in OBP.ScoopBrady wrote:Uh, yeah they are.
They have great starting pitching talent/depth and have a kick *ss bullpen. That doesn't make you a small ball team.
Very good game last night. I thought A.J. might come through for the Sox, he's always had a flair for the dramatic.

Good article about Fox's coverage of the playoffs from an unlikely source the NY Post.

That is not a good article....Why single out Fox, every network sucks. Typical NY Post garbage. Does anyone really care what the blowhards on the telecast have to say?Zlax45 wrote:Good article about Fox's coverage of the playoffs from an unlikely source the NY Post.

So you watched most of the Sox games this season? I highly doubt it. I don't care if they led the league in homeruns and OBP, they are a small ball team. I'm pretty sure they led the AL in sacrifices or were at least in the top 3. They had the best record in 1-run games and that's because they consistently manufactured runs. Just because they hit homeruns doesn't mean they relied on them. A typical White Sox lead off inning would be for Pods to get on base, bunt him over, bang him in. Ozzie was always calling for the suicide squeeze or the hit and run.Dave wrote:Scoop, they were 5th in the league in home runs. I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

We won't convince each other one way or another, that's for sure. I did see about 17 of their games (all too many of them Twins losses) and in those, which may or may not have been representative, they looked like the old Sox to me. They won more one-run games because they had starting pitchers getting deep into games and then turning it over to the likes of Hermanson/Jenks/Marte/Cotts. I'll take those odds. Konerko's 3-run HR put them in the lead this year due to that instead of closing the gap.ScoopBrady wrote:So you watched most of the Sox games this season? I highly doubt it. Pods only scored 80 runs this year, one more than Eric Hinske (Hinske had fewer ABs).
I agree to disagree on this one.

I used to cringe every time the sox were on Fox because I had to listen to stupid ass Tim McCarver.dbdynsty25 wrote:That is not a good article....Why single out Fox, every network sucks. I was actually impressed the game started as early as it did. I figured FOX would milk the pre-game show for every advertising dollar they could get, giving us at least 30 minutes of fuzzy, sepia-toned images of Shoeless Joe coming out of the cornfield.
But it started by 8:15, I was surprised.
BTW, in case anyone could have possibly missed it, "House" will return in November.

Anyone else here playing the alcs/nlcs with mvp05 ?
I just played game 2 of the alcs after downloading the current rosters and started tonights pitchers. Angels won the game 2-1 and it was one of the best mvp games I've played in a while. I will start my nlcs gaming tomorrow. I am picking the road team to control in each series.
MVP still plays a great game of baseball. It's one of those games you will never get rid of.

umps took this game away from the angels
but even though, the angels should have thrown to first if the umpire didn't call out. I am not sure if he did or did not since it seemed he signaled out.
Bad 0-2 pitch to Crede so bad mistake by the angels here.
WhiteSox were still given this one by the umps and kept in the series.
edit : scioscia in the press conf. was saying they didn't lose because of that play but that they didnt play well. guy's a class act, should have his team ready for game 3.
