I can't wait for the start of the Sidney Crosby era in Pittsburgh tonight. Watching the excellent special on the Penguins two Stanley Cup championship seasons on FSN Pittsburgh last night has me hoping for something magical again.
Might not be a great year for the Blues, but I'm excited at hockey once again back on TV. My 9yr old daughter just told me last night, "You know, hockey's back on tomorrow." I said, "Yep, back to me yelling at the TV more than I do during football games." She said, "So when are you taking me to a game, I'm pumped."
The Bruins are suppose to be good this year but the defense might be suspect with Big Bad Andrew Alberts on defense. Andrew is a Boston College grad and used to be a beast in the college game. He shoudl be a welcome addition.
PK: Did Fernando Pisani make the team this year? How you think UNH grad Ty Conklin will do? I went to school with him.

Pisani is on the roster, yes.
Conklin is the team's No. 1 goalie, but his grasp of that spot is shaky. He didn't play well in preseason from what I've read, and Jussi Markkanen is waiting in the wings if Conklin stumbles out of the regular-season gate.
Take care,
PK

I'm pumped..actually on vacation this week which was planned of course! I'll start by watching the Sabres and Islanders at 6pmcst. I'll watch the first period of that game and tivo the rest. I'll start tivoing the Blues game at 6:30pm and start watching that as soon as the 1st period of the Sabres and Islander is over. Upstairs i'm tivoing the Rangers and Flyers, as well as the Devils and Penguins for watching tomorrow. After the Blues game is over my late game of choice is the Coyotes and Canucks in HD on HDnet. I cannot wait to see hockey in HD for the first time.
I think the Sabres are going to be a surprise team this year and I look forward to watching them alot.
I can't wait!! Another year of mediocrity, at best, for the Rangers!!
You've had a great tenure Slats! Fortunately for you, you look like Einstein compared to the other idiot you share the building with...*cough* Isiah Thomas *cough*.

I'm very intrigued to see how Lemaire adjusts his game due to the new rules. On paper, this is a very average-at-best Wild squad, but they have young kids who can skate, so with his coaching abilities, who knows.

At least you can die in peace, though.
Hopefully, I'll have about 50+ years before that happens. Maybe the Rangers would make the playoffs before then. Only 42 more years to go! Woohoo!
What's this about HDNet showing hockey in HD? I hadn't heard peep about that. Is this a season long thing or just whenever they feel like it. (I might order Insight's HD package if NHL on HDNet is a regular thing.)

The hockey season is about 20 games too long. Sure wish that had been one of the changes discussed. That and a change in the playoff format.
nope hockey starts tonight for me. i'm much more of a die hard hockey fan than baseball fan. I love the Cardinals but they've always been 2nd in my heart behind the Blues and there are around 15 thousand more people in St. Louis that agree with me. The puck drops tonight for long suffering Blues and NHL fans. Baseball takes a back seat tonight for sure.

Season length was discussed, but they didn't want to reduce revenue even more ... yet. This year they are cramming 82 games into a season that includes a break for the guys to play in the winter Olympics. The boys are going to be tired.
Is the Center Ice free preview only available on Dish? Tried to check out a couple of the early games on Comcast but got the "subscription service" message.
Oh well, I'll turn it to INHD to check out the first OLNHD broadcast until the Wild drop the puck.
