Umm...seems like most everyone is praising 2k6 and just saying that Live is better than last year.10spro wrote:It seems that the crowd is divided on both games this year 50/50.

Are either of these NBA games playable online?
I've tried Live a couple of times over the years and one session online was enough. Cut-down graphics but still unbearable lag.
Is it better or maybe hoops and hockey games by nature are more prone to lag because they transfer more button presses than football games?

I've played two games of 2K6 online so far. My first game vs. Zeppo had a very little bit of lag...not bad at all. My game last night vs. Jack was near flawless.dbdynsty25 wrote:The one game of 2k6 I played online with Terry was damn near flawless. One or two very slight hiccups was about all of the lag we experienced.

But Fry's also has 2k6 on sale for $29.99 this weekend.wco81 wrote:OK, that's good to hear cuz there are some threads on the 2ksports.com forums complaining about lag. Also some problems with the online leagues feature.
Will be interesting to see if Live is any different. That Fry's deal makes Live a bit cheaper than NBA2K6.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Awesome.
NHL2K6 at $19.99 is enticing too but Warriors fans are actually optimistic this year.
So NBA seems to be the way to go.
So is the steal thing in Live a dealbreaker?
Some are complaining at the 2Ksports.com forums that paint shots are too money, that cheesers will score 80-90% of their points in the paint (with the rest at the FT line) and not take any perimeter shots.

just tried my rental copy of Live and here's some random thoughts on Live compared to 2K6:
It's no contest for me. 2k6 out "fun-ed" Live this year! After playing 2k6 with the shot stick, regular old shooting with Live seems boring now. The player models are so much better in 2k6. 2K6's animations seem so much smoother than Live's, which seems more jittery.
Live feels almost exactly like last year's game to me. I think if you liked it last year, you will still like it, but if u didn't, this game won't change your mind. The right analog stick doesn't seem as responsive to me this year as it has been in the past. The players in Live still seem a little bunched up and the court seems to "feel" smaller than in 2K6. The one thing Live does seem to do better out of the box, is shooting fouls on the AI. Another thing I really didn't like was the way some passes just seem to "float". Not sure if the passes are pressurer sensitive, but some passes seem to take forever to get there. Alley Oops are much easier to do in Live than in 2K6.
I really couldn't think of anything else this year, that Live does better than 2K6. 2K6 plays more like real hoops and Live still has that arcade feel to it. Last year, the 2 games were close, depending on what type of game you were looking for, but I think that gap has widened with this year's 2K6. If you are a serious hoops nut, then 2K6 is really the clear cut choice.
