From NHL.com:
>>>Mike "Doc" Emrick will be the network's lead play-by-play announcer, John Davidson will serve as the network's lead analyst and veteran NHL analyst Bill Clement will host OLN's studio show. Additions to OLN's hockey commentating team will be released as details become available.<<<
I'll miss Gary Thorne as much as anyone, but Emrick is outstanding, every bit as good as Thorne. Emrick also knows player backgrounds and stats better than Thorne.
Emrick and JD in the booth, with Clement leading the studio show. Sorry, but none of the other "big three" stick-and-ball sports on American TV has a lineup to match that.
Good work by OLN! Can't wait for the puck to drop!
Take care,
PK

Well PK,
I just got to say that kicks ass. That's 3 heavyweights for sure. I would imagine Barry Melrose joining the team eventually as well since there's no reason for ESPN to keep him there. I think I heard that Panger signed on with a team to do color but I'm not sure.
I will also miss Thorne. I really like him. Great passion for the sport.
Just saw some other good news the other day. I have TimeWarner cable and one of the high defintion stations they carry-HD.NET will be airing 2 hockey games a week in high definition. Wasn't expecting this so it came as a big surprise.
I, like you, am really looking forward to the season. Got tickets to see BJackets vs Penguins later this year.

HEre is the HDnet lineup for hockey. I'm not a hockey fan, but I'll check out the HD feed every now and then.

As a Hawks fan it pains me to say that he signed on to do the color commentary for the Phoenix Coyotes instead of the Hawks.bjackets wrote:I think I heard that Panger signed on with a team to do color but I'm not sure.

That's quite a team they've put together. I've had a hockey hard-on since they finalized the deal. Next week we get to see the second best sport and it's glorious return (IMO).
