Color. Humor. Realized. Fine words all, but they're only flirting with English, perhaps to the point of heavy petting. Not that I'm in any position to comment (yet I already have...how peculiar), since the Hartlepool dialect is home to some of the finest mangling of the English language you'll find this side of Tokyo.
Anyway, what am I listening to?
Silver Sun - Silver Sun and Neo Wave, criminally overlooked late 90's guitar-based pop
The Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers
Jamiroquai - Dynamite
Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
The Libertines - The Libertines
Hot Hot Heat - Elevator
Garbage - Bleed Like Me

If you spoke/typed proper English (you know, from our side of the pond) I would go back to counting threads. As it is, you're making a fool of yourself so I've been distracted.
"A fool" ? Thats a bit harsh isnt it ? or is it , is not it.
And SFZ no the other guy ye know Garret, Leaf Garret. The main dude
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHAAhahahahaah Simo likes Jamiroquai
Yes, a fool is a bit harsh...but it was in jest anyway. Of course, sarcasm isn't easily detected around here. At least you don't go off the deep end like some other unmentionable posters when I give you a little grief. That's how it should be.

Oh yeah..what am I listening to ? Other than torrential rain (see my post about Bavaria), I am mostly playing the following
Frank Black - Honeycomb
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Yanqui UXO
TISM - Gentlemen, Start Your Egos
Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure
Harmonia - Musik vom Harmonia
and of course, for those journeys on the motorway between Munich and Vienna, what else but
Kraftwerk - Minimum/Maximum
Ahh Kraftwerk, nice. But shouldnt it be Autoban ? or is it on that album.
Regarding Roxy Music, I have always found it to be a Potemkin Village of emotion...all artifice and affectation with no soul. Music without soul is dead to me.

This thread is funny. But Roxy Music rocked before Eno left and they didn't totally suck afterwards. Plus all those Helmut Newton/Jerry Hall album covers didn't (or was it just Siren). As for Eno, hard to say Another Green World and Here Come the Warm Jets have SOUL when Al Green was pumping out classics around the same time, but I'm a variety is the spice of life kinda guy. Viva Roxy Music!!!

See you in the CL. Revenge is a dish best served, like, really soon.
Roxy Music's artificial soul was/is part of their appeal. Ferry's distant post modern crooning melded well with Eno's synths and the very underrated Phil Manzanera. In a world full of shouters, Ferry has always been cool. His covers albums where he treats Dylan and Leslie Gore as equals are a pretty good indication that he's in on the joke.
I agree with Mighty Puck that the band has been on the downslide since their first comeback w/ Manifesto. 26 years is a long time to coast but it pays the bills. If you took late-era Roxy Music and replaced Ferry with a more soulful singer, you'd end up with Spandau Ballet and who the he11 wants more of that. But if you blame Roxy Music for Spandau Ballet and Duranx2, you have to give them some credit for influence a lot of other bands who've followed.
i have been listening to and enjoying around the clock
The Ponys Celebration Castle
Clutch.........Robot Hive ; Exodus
Various Artist .....Killer Queen a Tribute to Queen
DJ Spooky the subliminal kid & Dave Lombardo present ....Drums of Death
Ryan Adams .....2 cds full of random stuff someone burned for me
Interpol...turn on the Bright Lights
Franz Ferdinand....self titled
Common...Be
Jack Johnson....in between dreams (yes zech this time its him you made me curious..lol)
Johnny Cash........one of his older cds
How do you tell if an artist is soulful or not? It's a pretty subjective thing, no?
I thought "Slave to Love" was pretty soulful. Of course, by then, they were cultivating a polished, commercial sound in contrast to the more raw, street sound of their earlier years.
Ferry had this image of a sophisticate but IIRC, his background is working-class.

Totally agree that they were shooting for a vibe that was cold and artificial, and they did manage that well. And of course, WCO soul is totally subjective, except when it's not.

I forgot to mention the new Nevermore and Devil Driver cds. That Devil Driver one is f'n incredible. Much more polished than their debut.
Hows that red chord album Scoop? Heard a couple on Sirius sounded cool.
Yeah the new Devil Driver is great. I did not like the first one at all but after seeing them open for Machine Head and play some new tracks I had to pick up the new CD. Probably my second favorite release of the year coming in behind the new Nevermore
The Red Chord CD is pretty good. When i first got it I was little dissapointed and thought it was generic hardcore. The more I listen to it the more I enjoy it. If would imagine that Sirius is playing Antman. If you like that song you will like the whole CD
Jimmy, 'Minimum-Maximum' is a 2-CD greatest hits sort of thing, recorded live on their 2004 world tour (Manchester was 17 March, before you ask)..so naturally contains Autobahn as well as a myriad of other classics.
As for 'soul' in music, I have absolutely no interest in defining it, since one person's 'soul' is another person's 'over-emotive slush pandering to lowest common denominator shite'.
Roxy Music's early work could be said to contain much less 'soul' than the post-Eno albums, but the longer they went on, the less interesting they became, unlike Eno. The early albums were striving to portray a sort the emptiness of a fin-de-siecle style..as in the song 'In Every Dream Home a Heartache'.
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."
Anyone listening to the new Fun Lovin' Criminals disc: Livin' in the City?
It's freakin' awesome...same ol' FLC crew I remember from the last 5 years. Not their best album (Come Find Yourself is the best of course), but it's classic FLC. I'm not sure if you can actually "buy" the album since it's an import, but if you're looking for something to obtain, it's worth the d'load time.
Bloc Party: Silent Alarm Remixed is actually quite good. For the guys around here that liked the original, and if you like any sort of pepped up dancy type music, I'm sure that you'll dig on this one.
Keith Sewell - Love is a Journey
M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
Nickel Creek - Why Should the Fire Die?
Sam Bush - King Of My World
for some reason i've been listening to a lot of 70's one hit wonders like Sammy Johns who had a hit song called Chevy Van and Chris Rea who had a song called "Fool (if you think it's over). I've been listening to those two as well as a lot of other gay s***.

Hey, Chris Rea is more than a one-hit wonder. The guy is damn good!
If you like his stuff, I highly recommend the "Auberge" and "Road to Hell" albums. "Road to Hell Part I," "Road to Hell Part II" and "Texas" are GREAT tunes off the "Road to Hell" album, not cheesy at all like "Fool."
Take care,
