Penguins on the road at New Jersey. Why the f*ck wouldn't the NHL have Crosby open at home?
New Jersey is in the New York media market, but if the NHL wants marquee value, why not have Crosby open his career at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers?
Sadly, the Oilers don't travel to Buffalo or Ottawa this year, the closest NHL cities to Syracuse. Looks like NHL Center Ice might be an even better option for me if the price is dropped as a chit to fans.
Take care,
PK

I agree. Crosby should be playing at home, or in front of a packed house somewhere else. Looking at Philly's schedule, just 10 games against the Western Conference. There will be plenty of games with the Devils and Rangers.pk500 wrote:Penguins on the road at New Jersey. Why the f*ck wouldn't the NHL have Crosby open at home?

Is it possible the schedule was done before the lottery? Not that the league would have taken that into consideration anyways.pk500 wrote:Penguins on the road at New Jersey. Why the f*ck wouldn't the NHL have Crosby open at home?
At least he's playing in the same time zone. LeBron's first game was on the west coast, a 10:30 pm start locally, which made no sense at all.
I know you're an Oiler fan but are you going to totally blow of the Sabres? The Sabres will be a fun team to watch this season.pk500 wrote:Penguins on the road at New Jersey. Why the f*ck wouldn't the NHL have Crosby open at home?

I'm planning mine right now. The Penguins have Thursday-Saturday home games three times before Christmas. Each one of those weekends, the Steelers play at home, with one of them being a Monday night game, one a Sunday night game, and the other a day game vs the Bears. Now I just need to pick which weekend to go back. Two Penguins games and a Steelers game sounds like a hell of a road trip to me.Leebo33 wrote:DSP Road trip. I'm in.lexbur wrote:pk500 wrote:

I see the Oilers come to Pittsburgh, that can't be too much further than Ottawa, plus you'd get to see Crosby, how can you pass that up?

True. But Ottawa is around 2:45 or three hours from my house. Pittsburgh is five hours away.lexbur wrote:pk500 wrote:

Might be worth the trip to see Crosby, though, although I bet Pens' tix will be a tough buy this season.

Yes. Fun or not, I've never been a Sabres' fan. Sure, I pulled for them to win in '99 against Dallas, but I'm an Oilers' fan, not a Sabres' fan.tjung0831 wrote:I know you're an Oiler fan but are you going to totally blow of the Sabres? As much as I didn't miss hockey being played last year...I'm actually looking forward to it this year. I guess I'm going to have to pay for the Center Ice Package as I don't live in Phoenix anymore and I can't get the Coyote games for free. Hopefully they can put together a decent team. A lot of veterans are looking to come to Phoenix because of the Great One (and his likely move into the head coaching role). Should be interesting.
Coyotes already have a decent team and they are well setup for the new NHL. Two solid signings and they are a bonafide cup contender. Rumor is that Khabibulin and Modano are both interested in Phoenix.dbdynsty25 wrote:As much as I didn't miss hockey being played last year...I'm actually looking forward to it this year.
