Keepers in your library?

Boys:
 
 It´s time for my annual purge, as I start to weed out games in my library that I don´t play very often or have reduced fun factor. I have four or five games on sale now as I´m trimming the fat.
 
 I use the proceeds from the sales on eBay and half.com to buy all of the new games that sprout on shelves for the holiday buying season.
 
 Anyways, there are certain "keepers" that are secure in my Xbox library for quite a while. Right now, I have six keepers in my Xbox library, in no order:
 
 1. Halo
 2. Rallisport Challenge
 3. Moto GP
 4. NFL 2K3
 5. Jet Set Radio Future
 6. Project Gotham Racing
 
 I´m sure my keeper list will return to double digits in the next six weeks with all of the potentially great games on the horizon.
 
 What are the keepers on your list?

 FIFA 2002 - Good enough for me
 NHL 2002 - Go ´Canes!
 GT3 - Duh
 Gadget Racers - excellent game, and the girlfriend´s 9-year old son likes to play it.
 NFS:HP2 - the best in the series
 High Heat 2003 - God forbid they should ever make a game without my Expos!
 Namco Museum - Classic "old school"
 Super Bust-A-Move 2 - Always a great way to kill fifteen minutes.

I actually made the list of keepers last night because I am getting ready for a purge myself. Need to make room for all the games and DVDs I´ll be buying in November.

 Super Monkey Ball 2 (My Friends like the beat the crap out of each other when they come over)

 4. Shenmue (DC), Damn I love this game
 5. F355 racing (DC)
 6. Shenmue 2. (Haven´t picked it up yet actually)

Damn, BK, I wouldn´t have pictured you as a Shenmue kind of guy. But what the hell do I know?
 
 For the record: I dug Shenmue for the DC, too, and normally I can´t stand RPG-adventure games. I´m looking forward to getting Shenmue II on the cheap in December or January, when I´ll have more time to play it. Too many good sports and shooting games coming out now!
 
 P.S.: I rented ID 2003 for the first time last night. I´m very impressed. Much better than last year´s effort and right there with NBA 2K3 and Live 2003. In fact, I think I like it better than Live. Early impressions, though. Are you getting many fouls called on you, though? I never go to the line so far in ID 2003.

You know what PK, I am not a big RPG/Adventure type guy. But Shenmue completely drew me in. I am really looking forward to Shenmue 2. There´s no doubt in my mind the DC is the most underrated console of all time.
 
 As far as ID goes, I am not getting to the line as much as I do in 2k3. But in 8 min qtrs I am averaging between 10-15 FT attempts per game.
 
 The more I play ID the more I like it. I love how every player has individual tendency sliders, and if you go to the player editor, it´s mind boggling to see how many categories the players are rated it. Teams really play to their tendencies. I have only gotten about 5 or 6 games in but I am loving it so far.

Was Shenmue 2 released in the U.S.? If not, what version are you playing or planning on getting- Jap. or Euro. one?

The XBOX version was just released in the US this week. I think but am not totally sure, that the US version is an XBOX exclusive.

BK is correct. Shenmue 2 is an Xbox exclusive in the U.S.

 Just curious what is considered the "fat" of your library, and if you care to play, why does the game(s) no longer hold your interest?
 
 I just recently sold Ace Combat 4 (PS2) because I just do not have enough time to play everything in my entertainment center. AC4 is a solid (read fun) fighter jet game, but I have never been a huge fan of the genera. I would pick it up again for under $10 just for the whore factor.
 
 Anyway, something had to go to pay for last month´s NFS:HP2 and F355 purchases.

 The current fat, which I´m sold last night on eBay:
 
 NASCAR Heat 2002: Fine game with solid physics and driving model. But I´m just not in an oval racing mood now, and I´m sure I can pick this up for less than $10 in the spring if the circle-track mood strikes me again. And I´ll definitely use the upcoming IRL game to satisfy that jones.
 
 Sega GT 2002: This game becomes a cinch once you purchase the Ford GT 40 concept car, which is damn near unbeatable. The course design flat out sucks in most cases, too.
 
 NHL 2003: A bad game, period. EA Canada couldn´t program defensive hockey AI if Bobby Orr, Scott Stevens and Ray Bourque gave them private tutoring.
 
 ESPN MLS Extra Time 2002: This is a big risk, but I´m putting faith in EA´s supposed improvements in FIFA 2003. So MLS -- a fine Konami game -- is making way. I really, really miss the international license in a soccer game, as I´m a big fan of the beautiful game in Europe and want to play as those teams and players.
 
 That´s my fat right now.
