... don´t you think he got the shaft by not being named World Series MVP?

Come on, the guy had the most prolific World Series of any player ever, and his team lost in a seven-game series. What, four jacks and an on-base percentage of .700 or .800, something like that?

If ever there was a year for a player on the losing team to be the MVP, this was it.

What do you think?

I would have to agree with you PK that Bonds was certainly the most outstading offensive player in the series throughout the series.

But he´ll also be remembered for bobbling a ball twice during the Angels´ Game 6 comeback win. I think that and the Giants failing to win the series worked against him.

Glaus, while the not putting up the numbers Bonds that Bonds did, was the total package in the field and at the plate. I´m not sure the Angels had one standout star on their team, but Glaus was most deserving

PK, this maybe one of the very few times I disagree with you. While I am no Bonds fan, I will admit he´s the best baseball player I have seen in my lifetime.

That being said, if you look, Glaus actually put up similiar WS numbers and actually had more RBI´s I believe. Plus he made some great plays in the field, (Bonds had a few miscues in the field), and most of all Glaus´s team won.

Just my opinion mind you. (Plus Glaus is a hometown boy )..
Glad to see you in our Forum! Stop by more often, man.
Hey, I´m no huge baseball fan. Maybe I got caught up in the media hype over Bonds´ Ruthian feats.

Glaus certainly was worthy, too. But Bonds seemed to have this entire World Series by the shorthairs -- it was his playground.

By the way PK. I don´t think a few of those bombs Bonds hit have landed yet. I think one of them may have bounced off that Russian Space station.
No doubt. I was born in 1965, and Bonds is the best hitter I´ve seen so far in my lifetime, hands down.

PK, now I can´t stand the man. But if you look at his numbers the last 2 years. They really are staggering. I hadn´t really looked at them in detail, but most likely we will never see another person put together numbers like that again.

Ok guys, I need to jump in on this one. Let me get this out of the way, my vote was with Glaus, but I wouldn´t have been shocked to see Bonds win it.

Now.....I agree Barry is great. I don´t know about comparing players from different eras, or even from year to year anymore. If there is any baseball fan (who has followed the game for a long time (for me since 1976)), they know how much the game has changed. I for one believe that the ball is juiced. I also believe that the use of steroids has had an effect as well. There is no doubt that players are bigger now, but the numbers they are putting up are staggering. I remember the days of Mike Schmidt vs. Dave Kingman battling for a homerun title. These guys would hit say 35 homeruns (sometimes more, sometimes less). I remember one year watching Reggie Jackson and Ben Oglivie (former Brewer) battle it out with I believe both hitting 41 dingers. There was the year George Foster of the Reds hit 52. Now we see guys hitting 50, 60, and with Barry, over 70 homers. I don´t have stats at my fingertips, but hitting at least 20 homeruns a year seems pretty common.

One more thing, these players should not be allowed to wear any of that stupid body armor. Bonds is a great hitter, let him take off that "shield." Let the pitchers throw the ball inside without getting warnings. I saw a guy in the WS wearing a protector on his elbow. Be a man and step in there like all those before. Unless a guy has a documented, serious injury, he shouldn´t be allowed to wear those devices. Remember when Clemens "tested" Bonds´ armor. Barry didn´t like it. I remember playing in a HS game against a guy who threw in the low 90´s. Was I nervous? Yes. Did the guy throw inside to back me off the plate? Yes. Did I still stand in there and hit? Yes.

If baseball wants fans who want games being 10-9, so be it. Like my wife a lot of people have found baseball boring in the past. As to why, my wife said because there´s no action. Well there was plenty of action in the playoffs and World Series.

Records don´t seem to mean a lot anymore. I for one am sad about that. What´s next, aluminum bats?
