OT: Hurricane Dennis..Here we go again
The tropics are brewin' up again,and us folks on the west coast of Fla are getting a little nervous,as Dennis goes to a Cat. 3. Here in Punta Gorda,where we took the brunt of Charley last August,this would be the last thing we need. As of now its projected to skirt the coast Sat. If this holds true we will get 50 to 70 mph winds,and rain. But as last year taught us ,anything can happen. At least the homestead is repaired from Charley. Looks like the panhandle could bear the brunt of this one. This is way to early for this crap!

Cincy;
I'm in Punta Gorda. We were ground zero for Charley's 150+ winds last Aug. There are still many people living in trailers next to storm damaged homes,as well as approx. 400 FEMA trailers out by the airport housing about 1200 displaced people. I don't wish this storm on anybody,but we damn sure don't need any part of this bad boy. Stay safe up there. If it stays on its projected course,you'll probably get some tropical storm force winds and rain. The Hi pressure system needs to stay in place,and we should skate. If it moves east,we could be in trouble. After last year we are all freakin amateur meteoroligists around here

The hurricanes are also affecting the rest of the nation/world.
Price of oil, heating oil and gas have spiked in the last week because of real or anticipated supply disruptions from the Gulf. Actually, it's only about 200k barrels which are affected.
But the oil market is now full of hedge fund types and other Wall Street arbitrageurs so the prices are more volatile than they otherwise would be.
Hurricanes are nothing new. But the way the oil market is responding to them is.

Tell me about it. The price went up 14 cents a gallon here in Punta Gorda overnight.wco81 wrote:The hurricanes are also affecting the rest of the nation/world.
