How is that game? I always see it on sale at Fry's. Is it playable with a gamepad? I don't want to have to spring for a wheel just for one game. Lemme know and maybe I'll pick it up.

Thanks,

I think the game is good. At Simulation level, it can be somewhat difficult. But practice always makes perfect.

Gamepad? I never tried GTR with a gamepad but I would think it would be much harder than if you used a wheel.

There really is not much interest in this game, though it is by far the best GT racing game available. Most of the interest comes from European players. I suspect this is because GTR was only just released in the US about a month ago, while it's been out longer in Europe.

But if I had to say, using a gamepad with GTR would be extremely hard. Still, I wouldn't know, since I don't use one. :)

back in the heydays of GPL, I was in a league with some other Canadian folks. One of the guys, who usually finished top 3 in each race, used a gamepad. A gamepad in GPL! 8O

I played GTR ALOT when it came out as a mod for F1 2002. I'm tempted, but right now I find my interests diverging from gaming, so I don't think I'll purchase it right now.

Alan,
I am definitely interested in an informal GTR league and I was even trying to get my own dedicated server setup. I am still in the process of doing that. However, the Average Drivers Club, a great group of guys who run a Grand Prix Legends league, have just started a GTR division. You can find more info about it here:

I think GTR would be a great game for a DSP league if we could get interest. We had a short lived SR/DSP Nascar Racing 2003 league going a couple years ago that was pretty fun. However, even though I think GTR is great, and its basically all I have been playing lately, it still has some online issues to work out. Compared to the ease of Forza or TOCA racing on the Xbox, GTR does take some dedication to get it working smoothly. Plus you don't have the added voice chat unless someone is running a dedicated voice server of some type as well.

PS - Don't know about GTR with a gamepad. It would probably work just fine in the Arcade or Semi-Pro modes, but it could be a handful in full simulation mode.
