Pretty cool video of a lap at Laguna Seca in a Grand-Am prototype. Fun to compare a real racer's line with the one we use in Forza:

Helpful clip, amazingly enough the line I attempt to drive at Laguna Seca isn't too far off this one.pk500 wrote:Pretty cool video of a lap at Laguna Seca in a Grand-Am prototype. Fun to compare a real racer's line with the one we use in Forza:

Great video. For the racing geeks out there like me, I always use Laguna Seca as my personal metric for judging the realism in a racing game, as I was fortunate enough to attend the Skip Barber racing school there some years ago and attend a lapping session a few years later. The trickiest corner at the real track (at least for me), was turn 6, the uphill left hander, which has a slight dip in the track right at the apex. In a non-aero equipped car, like the Formula Dodges used in the racing school, you are taught to keep your right foot planted through the apex to keep weight on the rear wheels when you hit the dip. This dip is obvious in the video, but I have yet to see any racing game that simulates it. This is a nit, obviously, but something I always look for nonetheless when I first fire up a racing game that has Laguna Seca in it. Overall, I think Forza does the best job of simulating the racing line at Laguna Seca plus the overall look of the track. TOCA is a close second, with Gran Turismo a distant third.
