Will 360 get the Next Gen Madden? I doubt it.

Will 360 get the Next Gen Madden? I doubt it.
We have not seen one gameplay screenshot or video of the next gen madden. Only made up simulated video. That tells me that an all new madden is not close to being ready. It also makes sense, given EAs track record, that they will not spend a lot of resources for anyone other than Sony. They are going to wait and have the all new madden ready for PS3. Plus 360 is launching so late in football season that there is no way EA will unveil an all new football game at that time. No potential for million+ sales.
My prediction is that once again xbox will get screwed and get a slightly enhanced ps2 port over to the 360 (even though 360 is about 50x more powerfull than the ps2).
Does anybody have any evidence to the contrary.

I think they'll have a Madden for launch as promised, but without any screens of what it's going to look like yet, I'm really wandering what its going to be. There are two courses in my mind - your mentioned ps2 port in which they try to boost the res, or a ground up rebuild for the next gen that probably will be missing a lot of features. Either way, this years version of next-gen Madden isn't looking too special... especially if they have nothing to show yet.
It's never premature to rip on EA Sports.Boom wrote:Considering that we do not even know when the 360 is going to launch for sure, I feel that it's a little premature to be ripping EA Sports over NextGen Madden.

They said on the MTV special and at E3 the Xbox 360 would be out in November. It is claimed to be out before Thanksgiving and will be around $299.00.
Ripped from todays headlines

If they just upgraded graphics, they would be making a bad first impression.
They could add things like physics for the second version of Madden on next-gen but then, is EA going to add something that substantial within a generation?
Then again, I guess they don't have to worry about another NFL game making a better impression.
Still they will face other next-gen games boasting of better AI and physics. Those other games will be competing for the same gaming dollars. A lot of football gamers could decide if the only difference is graphics, they can wait for the consoles to drop in price or just more time to save up to buy $300 consoles.
So despite NFL-exclusivity, they have to make some kind of a splash.

Still waiting for your reply as to Tigers 6 courses in the Xbox 360 release. Oh great bastion of impartiality.DivotMaker wrote:Agreed.Boom wrote:I feel that it's a little premature to be ripping EA Sports over NextGen Madden.

Re: Will 360 get the Next Gen Madden? I doubt it.
The Sega Genesis says hi. Fact is, EA goes where the money is, and MS has a lot of money. And, EA already has several games in development for the 360.anchester wrote:It also makes sense, given EAs track record, that they will not spend a lot of resources for anyone other than Sony.
Yes, we haven't seen gameplay of Madden, but the Seahawks stadium and Shaun Alexander demo WAS running on 360 hardware.
Given the fact MS was LATE finalizing the 360 GPU, developers weren't able to get games up and running on actual hardware. That doesn't mean they don't exist.
At E3, 360 games were running on twin Appe G5's, which is only about 30% of the 360's power. Developers didn't have time to tweak and tune demos and get their actual engines running to a point where they could be shown, but I'm confident EA has been working on Madden Next Gen for some time.
We didn't see Perfect Dark o Project Gotham 3 -- but those are still coming at launch. I'm not ready to throw tho towel in on the EA
Good grief, its speculation based on the reality of the past. We do know that the 360 will launch this holiday season. There are clips of several games up and running on 360 alpha kits (the twin G5's)...even clips of PD0 gameplay.
I want to be floored by a reworked next-gen Madden engine just as much as anyone else... I just don't think we're going to get one that's going to be all that flattering.

The most interesting thing about Madden 2006 for the 360 is that it will not only be competing against the other games that are released, it will be competing against itself.
While some folks here have already made plans to sell their consoles in preparation for the next generation, most average Joe customers will be avid gamers who either still have a PS2 or an Xbox and buy a new 360 to go with it. These are gamers who also buy games when they come out. I would guess that there are not a lot of gamers who will have the discipline in August to say "I will not buy Madden 2006 now, but will wait until it comes out for the 360 in November." Most will be at the store in August when the Fedex delivery comes in and will get it for the current generation and play the hell out of it for the next 2-3 months.
When the new Madden comes out, it had better have something special to offer these gamers to get them to buy another version of the same game.
Honestly, don't you think that most Madden gamers will have already got their fix by November???? Hell, by this point, some NFL teams will already be eliminated from the playoffs.
I assume EA must know this, but they must also be aware that mediocre ports by 989 cost Sony a lot in terms of software credibility - something that 989 is still trying live down. So I would guess that EA is figuring that they will have to come up with a new game for the new consoles anyway, so they might as well bite the bullet and get it done for the 360 release. Will it have all the features we have come to expect from a Madden game? That is the question of the day.

What difference does it make what I think about only 6 courses? Or are you just looking to start an argument? Thanks, but no thanks.bdoughty wrote:Still waiting for your reply as to Tigers 6 courses in the Xbox 360 release. Well, in 96 there was a game called NFL Gameday that was head and shoulder above what the people who are now known as VC had developed for EA Sports. They canked the game due to it being a soup sandwich and couldn't compete with the competition.XXXIV wrote:I remember waiting for madden 96 on the PS1...a game that never came.
CANCELLED!
Could it happen again? Why not..
Well, we all know that can't happen this year.

I just do not see where Divot can call himself "objective" toward EA when he conveniently skips threads that would (gasp) require him to be just that. Fair enough, I am taking it to PM and will play nice.Jared wrote:Let's not let this turn into a flame war about courses in Tiger Woods and perceived impartiality. Let's play nice, people...

I have been in West Africa the past 3 weeks. I very had spotty and very inconsistent internet service while there. I just returned home yesterday and now all of a sudden I am supposed to comment on a thread I just heard about today?
Since when have I been required to respond to ANY thread on ANY forum? I don't owe YOU or anyone else anything. Last time I looked, this was a forum where any member is free to comment on any thread he/she feels like or has access to.
I responded in THIS thread because I FELT like responding and it was on the first page. Sorry if I don't subscribe to your anti-EA agenda.
Lastly, as far as your PM to me, you seem to possess a convenient memory regarding my "defense" of TW on consoles. I have HATED TW on consoles for the past 3-4 versions. And I don't believe I have kept any of that a secret. I don't comment too much regarding TW on consoles because the past several versions have been jokes in many areas. I think 6 courses for the XBox 360 is ridiculous. However, they did not bother asking my opinion.
As far as my objectivity goes, there is nothing I could say or do that would change your mind, but you don't seem to realize that I do not post here to garner your opinion. I simply do not care what you think of me. If you will notice, I did not quote YOU. I quoted someone else in my initial post. You have consistently shown that you have it in for me, so in the future, if I respond to someone else, I am NOT looking for your freaking opinion. Got that?

That red blinking light you see flashing on the computer. That is the irony meter overheating. Got that? Good, then if you have nothing to add to my PM (by replying to IT) I consider myself done with you...

I don't respond to pathetic attempts to incite arguments. If you had anything worth responding to, I would have answered.bdoughty wrote:Good, then if you have nothing to add to my PM (by replying to IT)
Good. I hope you stick to that because I have no interest in responding to anything more you have to say....bdoughty wrote:I consider myself done with you...
Brent,
What did I say? I'll repeat:
This is a forum where "any member is free to comment on any thread he/she feels like"...but if someone keeps trying to bait someone, then I don't like that. And then I have to take action.
So this thread is locked. Stop trying to incite DivotMaker. This is a warning.
