Sorry Scoop, but defense is not the main reason for the low scores in the Eastern Conference.

It's tempo. For example, Detroit is a very good defensive team, but most of the times they walk the ball in to their offense, wich means less posessions. Plus, they don't have "great" shooters, so they won't go over 100pts alot of times unless they get hot.. But hey, it works for them. But it's still boring.

Miami actually plays at a faster tempo when Shaq isn't in the game. And that could be the problem for the Heat, because it doesn't look like they can beat Detroit playing half court. Pistons are just too good on defense when they can set up their schemes.

Suns to popularize Euro ball in the NBA?

www.slate.com/id/2119404/

I think this guy gives too much credit to the scheme and not enough to the players. Right now, Nash hype is the highest (and in the first round and the early part of the Dallas series, it was all about Stoudemire) so most TV analysts (players and coaches) are talking about player talent, not the system the Suns use.

Anyways, interesting read.

Richardson is frickin making me sick. Grab some cold bench.

Wish Joe Johnson would've been back for this game. Nash and Amare can't do it by themselves.

Yeah, Q needs to do something...him and Marion are non-factors.

The Suns certainly aren't making life easy...going to SA down 0-2. The only good news...Joe should be back. Freakin' Robert Horry is nails in the playoffs...someone needs to get in that dudes face (same with Brent Barry).

PS...I hate Manu Ginobili...that guys is the biggest p*ssy flopper. Someone just needs to deck that guy.

Tsk Tsk DB don't hate, appreciate Manu. That behind the back move at the end of the game probably had you throwing out a nice string of profanities. Of course they would have a hard time decking him because he plays hard on offense and defense (A couple of the Suns players on D should take note of that). ;) ;)

Well my predection is on target so far. Suns are good on the road but the Spurs will want to get it over at home.

Watched just the first quarter. All those Spurs who couldn't make open shots against the Lakers last year seem to be hitting them so far.

As well as the Suns are shooting, they need even more offense to just outscore the Spurs? Or maybe Johnson can defend Ginobli better.

Are you kidding me?

Suns shot 55% from the field, 50% from downtown and 82% from the foul line, AT HOME and STILL lost.

I smell a did you know on Sportscenter

Amazing.

I only saw the 4th qtr but it seemed like the suns were playing 4 v 5. If they can get one of their other guys to step up, I can see the series coming back to PHX 2-2.

Suns need more offense to outscore the Spurs and/or play better defense. Oh my that is signature worthy material.

What a novel concept in winning a basketball game. Outscoring your opponent and defend better, quick someone call the Suns HQ and alert them of this.

Sadly as obvious as that is what is seperating the two teams is one is playing better TEAM defense (will let you figure out which team) and shows up for the 4th quarter. It is apparently obvious to those of us who watch all 4 quarters of the game.

They also had 15 turnovers to SA 10 and two Technicals. Some of the stupid stuff comes back to bite you in the butt. Also SA got more offensive rebounds. These little things add up.

Wow what a wit. With the cute pics as usual.

Who the f*** asked you?

Suns strategy this season is predicated on outscoring, more specifically out running and gunning the opponent. And just playing enough defense at key moments.

So they let Gasol get a lot of points early in the game but in the 4th quarter, they swarm to the lane. They did the same against Nowitski, like OT in Game 4 of that series.

Suns have shot very well. Or specifically, Nash and Stoudemire shot the lights out tonight. But Duncan, Parker and Ginobli all scored well in both games.

Not only do the Suns need another scoring threat (if nothing else, as insurance against Nash and Stoudemire having a subpar game), they need a better perimeter defender. Nash isn't going to slow down Parker, apparently, and Jackson and Richardson aren't going to stop Ginobli.

Yeah they need to shoot EVEN better than they did tonight. And they need to get stops in key possessions.

I don't know why you guys are arguing. There is really a simple explanation.

The Spurs get the stops when they need to, and they shoot better in crunch time. That's what championship calibur teams do. It comes with experience...the Suns don't have much and it shows.

Yea I kind of already mentioned that (team defense/stepping up in the 4th quarter). ;)

I will follow you DB in your quest to be a gentler/kinder poster by not replying to anything WCO says.

He's baaaaaack and he's the only hope the Suns have got at extending this series. If he plays well...they can hang with the Spurs.

I still can't believe the Celtics traded him away. Morons.

Well, he really didn't do much when he was on the Celtics. The Suns did the smart thing last year, letting him play a lot and develop after they traded away Marbury and Penny. The Celtics apparently didn't have the time nor the patience to let him develop. He's turned into a damn fine player and it's going to costs the Suns this summer if they choose to match any and all offers for him. I have a feeling he'll want to stick around even more now because he's missed so much time because of his injury. Hopefully he'll feel there is unfinished business to take care of.

Back-to-back days with no games at this stage of the playoffs is inexcusable.

The Celtics had 3 first rounders the year they drafted Johnson. It probably worked against him because they didn't have the minutes to spread around. The Celtics also thought they were legitimate contenders in the East which can delude a team into making all kinds of crazy short-term moves. They eventually made it to the conference finals, so maybe they weren't so far off. But if Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers are the two final pieces of your championship contending team, you're either (a) a lot better team than the first Pierce-Twan era Celts or (b) smoking crack.
