GTR: Any Interest?

Post by Alan_Bernardo »

I got GTR about a week or so ago. It's a fine simulator.

Is there any interest around here for racing GTR? If so, I'd like to join in or start my own server.

Thanks,

Cool. Say, drop over to

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/

multiplayer forum, and add your name to the GTR interest post.

We have three or four right now.

Thanks,

Can you grab GTR at a place like Gamestop, or is it an online only thing? I haven't seen it anywhere yet, but I'm about to run out to Gamestop anyway soon.

I found it at an EB games here in Ohio, around Cleveland. I hear also that it has been spotted at Best Buy.

If you go to the EB games website and put in your zip code, it'll tell you where the game is at a store near your location. That's how I located it.

Didn't find it at Gamestop. I heard that it was originally an online purchase, although a quick search led me to numerous reviews...no online purchase/downloads.

Is it a boxed-copy-only deal?

As far as I know, GTR was never a strickly online purchase and never was a part of any direct-download deal.

In the US, EB Games started carrying it. Unitl it finally reaced some US stores, it was to be found mainly online, at the EB site.

Now, however, it is at many EB stores and even at some Best Buy stores. I know that Fry's also had it early, but can't confirm that, since there are no Fry's in my area.

Again, if you're interested in getting the game (it's an awesome sim), try going to the online EB Games site and search for the game based on your zip code. It might be available in EB stores near where you live.

Otherwise, try calling some Best Buy stores near you.

Yeah I hit Best Buy and several Gamestops. There isn't an EB within 200 miles of me, so that's no good. Hell, the closest Gamestop is 50 miles away too. I might have to order it online if I want to grab it, but I'm nervous my aging PC just wouldn't handle it.

Tim,

What are your specs for you PC. I find this game is not by any means a system's hog.

My system is three years old: Penitum 4 2.3 ghz with 512 RAM and a GeForce 5700, along with an 18" FP display.

The game runs pretty well, surprisingly well. But of course you're going to have to make the final determination about how well you think your system will run GTR.

I'd say that, probably, N2003 and GTR are pretty equal, with maybe GTR needing just a little more horsepower.
