Attention All Forza Owners!

Post by Atxj »

I was browsing ForzaCentral.Com a little bit ago and apparently there is another glitch that allows you to get to level 50 on one race(don't know how to do and im sure no one wants to).

It seems Microsoft isn't going to leave us all hanging and they have announced they are going to release an update very soon that will fix this glitch and the money glitch.

The downside, once the patch is released all profiles will be deleted for anyone that plays on live, which means all of the cars you have spent hours and hours upon beautifying. Thought this heads up would be beneficial to those planning to do any massive paintjobs in the near future. You might want to wait until after the patch because your gonna lose the car if you do it beforehand.

This really blows, im gonna lose the DSP Mobile...

Wow, that's going to hurt, I wonder if you lose all of your cars that you won in offline career mode too... I guess we'll see when the patch comes out...

I highly doubt that is the correct information you have there. That were seriously f*ck over all of the people that purchased this game and would be a bit of business suicide.

I don't doubt they are patching something for future hackers, but to screw EVERYONE over becasue of a few idiots!?!? And for what, just becasue they have leveled up and gotten cooler, faster cars? This is much different than resetting the Halo rankings. Halo's ranking does not affect your offline game or anything you've earned or created. It just affects stats and #'s. What you're describing is very differnt and would not be in the best interest of anyone.

If this ends up being the case, it really sucks. It seems like the patch would hurt a hell of a lot more people than it helps. Neither of the glitches it fixes bother me at all.

Hmm, I went over and looked at the "Press Release", definitely looks fake to me. Way too many typos. I guess that the cheat does exist though. Hopefully MS will come out with a patch for some of the little irritating issues in a timely manner...

Hey, I'm away from my Xbox from May 11-29 due to work, so Microsoft, please reset everyone's cars May 29!

I'm a selfish dick, I know. :)

Take care,

I don't care if people level up to level 50 using some glitch.

I won't do it. DSPers won't do it. That's all that matters to me. Hell, even if people I race with do it, so what if they use some false way to open up all the cars? We race with class restrictions on, so they can only use the cars we allow anyway.

Random online dickheads can do whatever they want as far as I'm concerned.

No way Microsoft will "clear" out all of the records and saved cars...there is just no way. I remember a while back some game was out that when they patched it, it erased the online records...that's completely different. This is f'n with peoples careers and stuff. No way that will happen.

Plus, as Jamie said, it doesn't effect us and how we race anyway, so I could care less about some 50 level glitch (I'm up to 23 by myself anyway!).

Excellent point.

Plus, as you said, the restrictions of the Online Career mode weed out those who use the cheat to get upper-class cars, especially as most DSPers are concentrating on Class D and C cars in the Career mode. Sure, the D and C's aren't that fast, but they are racey and fun as hell.

Plus any dickhead newbie who straps into a GTS or R class car without skill will be off track after two turns anyways. You just need to avoid the carnage in the first few turns, and you'll be clear of them.

Famous last words, I know ... :)

Take care,
PK

Ditto...I could careless what those yo yos do...

The fun of the game is EARNING the rewards and the feeling of accomplishment....without those things I wouldnt play any games...

I got excited yesterday cause I won the lvl 5? hatchback events yesterday with My New Golf without using any aids except ABS...If I had "cheated" I wouldnt have enjoyed it...

I dont get it...and I guess like My gf says " you never will"

Yeah, the main thing they need to fix with a patch is the 30 second deal and ending the races properly.

I imagine if it's real they're just going to reset ELO and scoreboards, neither of which mean a whole lot to me.

I highly doubt they'd completely wipe everyone's collection of cars. There would be a ton of returns on the game because very few people are going to play through twice, especially people who got pretty far into the game legitimately.

edit: Just went and checked it out. That thing stinks of fake.

Why would MGS need a press release?

Why wouldn't MGS proofread their press release?

That said, there are a ton of issues that I hope do get fixed:

* Engines bogging down for no apparent reason

* Ditching or extending the 30 second timer for long races and/or league races (race distance should be taken into consideration, and I'd probably be pissed if I were running for credits and got zip and a DNF for finishing 31 seconds behind the leader)

* All the money glitches and exploits

* The fact that if you cannot join a pub race in online career it boots you all the way out into the online career class selection instead of server selection

* The fact that some of the bodykit options just give off the wall rating changes. Rating changes should not be given automatically for installing the parts. They should be standard with any bonuses reaped by adjusting aero settings at the setup screen.

* Just as a suggestion I'd like "superstock" and "stock" classes in addition to the letter designations. Stock meaning only straight stock cars in a class can compete and Superstock meaning any class car that was originally a certain class can race (example: any class acceptable so long as it's a D in pure stock). That would be good times :)

It's like a standard chess rating.

Everyone starts out at a certain level (1200 I believe in Forza). It increases based on the ELO of the people you beat. As an example:

You have an ELO of 900 and beat some guys with 1300 and 1400 ELO. Your ELO will increase substantially. If you had a 1400 and beat guys rated 900 you'd get an increase but not nearly as much.

The same way for losing races. Your ELO will drop but maybe only a few points if you're @ 900 and the winner was 1400. In the opposite case if you had the 1400 and got beat by people with 900 ELO you'd take a huge hit.

Basically ELO encourages going after and beating people ranked higher than you as opposed to hammering lower ranked players into the ground.

At least we can't hear PK singing what ELO means to him this time.

Thanks Talamius...

I guess some of you guys need to increase your damn ratings so I can actually gain some points after I beat you. LOL...

So does anyone know where the Hot Lap Ranking comes from. I assume it was from the Time Trials, but there is already a Time Trials ranking.

Also, there is a Car Club ELO, mine is still at 1200, whereas my regular ELO is less than 1000. Doh. What has to be setup in a race where it distinguishes betweeen regular ELO and Car Club ELO? Did not see any option for it last night when setting up the server and I believe we were only racing against those in the DSP Car Club that Zeppo set up.

Re: Chess ELO system (What does "ELO" stand for and where did it come from?)

from: http://chess.about.com/library/weekly/aa03a25.htm

"The most widely used rating system is known as the Elo system. Arpad E. Elo, born 1903 in Hungary, emigrated to the United States at age 10. From 1935 to 1965, he was professor of physics and astronomy at Marquette University.

From 1935 to 1937, Elo was administrator of the American Chess Federation which merged in 1939 with the National Chess Federation to become the USCF. He was nine times champion or co-champion of Wisconsin.

In the preface to his book The Rating of Chessplayers, Past and Present (Batsford 1978), Elo wrote

In 1959 the late Jerry Spann, then president of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) named a committee to review the federation's rating system and to revise and improve its technical and administrative features. It fell upon the writer, as chairman, to examine the basic theory and rationale of the rating systems of the chess world and the sports world in general.
The Elo system was adopted by the USCF in 1960, and by FIDE in 1970. Elo served as Chairman of the USCF Rating Committee from 1959 to 1976. He was inducted into U.S. Chess Hall of fame in 1988 and died in 1992. "

Seems as though we could have some great news if this isn't speculation, http://www.forzacentral.com/forum/showt ... #post37613

According to this guy Microsoft has a certain way of tracking every single one of your races (similar to how they track your games in Halo 2) and once the patch is released it will scan your system and if you have cheated to level 50 you will be erased, if you have not your good to go.

Another feature he mentions in his post.

You can only buy a car from another person that is within your level range. Therefore you can't buy a car from another person until you have actually unlocked it yourself. (No Enzo until you have actually unlocked it)

Thanks James, let's hope you had to look that up and didn't have Chess Quarterly sitting next to your computer.

I'm not too concerned about my ELO, but I think there's a little flaw in the ELO system for car racing. If you happen to get taken out in by a bad cornhole that destroys your car and you are the highest rated person in the room, you can lose ELO big time. Someone, uhm, I know had this happen to him, and he dropped a 100 ELO in one race. It wasn't a DSP race of course, there's only minor cornholing going on. ;) It would be nice if there was a little bit of weighting to it, of course that makes the calculation more complicated.

Of course this person probably should just stop bitching and be sure to
only play with DSPers..;)

The manual even tells you where Elo comes from...but we all know 99% of us don't even look at that.

<edit>And yeah...I went from 1500 ELO to 1200 in one race before from a lag cornholing. I think the system wants to force you to stay around 1200-1300.

The system may want to force YOU to stay around 1200-1300, but apparently it wants to force ME to stay around 900-1000.
