Rumored prices are $299 for the base unit and $360 for the unit with the hard drive and remote.

That's not bad -- only an extra 60 bones for the hard drive and remote. Any truth to the reports/rumors that backward compatibility only is available in the hard-drive version?

It probably is, but I hope not. Regardless if I gotta pay more to get it... guess I gotta do it. I can't see not getting the capability if it's available.
