Not that it's the most accurate indicator, but the Downloadable Content area on the back of the case is grayed out. So maybe there isn't any planned.

Take care,

If it's true that's too bad about the DLC. I was hoping for LeMans sometime in the future.

Picked it up at lunch and did not get too much time with it. However, the first thing I did was check out Road Atlanta (my home track so to speak). This is the best depiction of Road Atlanta in any racing sim on the PC or console. The user made version for Nascar Racing 2003 is now a close second.

One thing I like is that in Time Trial and Free Run mode you can run on any track. It will upload your best time and it appears you can download and race against ANY ghost (not just the top 10 like in PGR2). Since I love hotlapping in the wee hours of the morning when there is no one online to play against, this is a very cool feature.

So who is going to setup the DSP car club and what is the name going to be? I normally don't get into clans in the FPS and RTS world, but some of the stat tracking that it does per car club sounds pretty cool. This would have made my life much easier in the old "Ring" hotlapping contest we had going for awhile with PGR2. :) It also looks like you can have custom logos that can be shared to identify your car club online.

I know the first track and first car that I'll run when I get the cellophane off tonight: Porsche 911 GT3 on Laguna Seca.

That's the car I drove the most in the demo, which only had Laguna, so I can compare the demo to the finished version easily.

Really looking forward to tonight, fellas!

Take care,
PK

Hey Scoop, how did you get it for $34.99? Did you have a Fry's ad and go into another store (EB or Gamestop) or did you actually pick it up at Fry's?

Wouldn't you have to "buy" or unlock that car first? I'm not sure how difficult that's going to be. You might have to go with the Mini Cooper around Laguna.

I might have to get in on that Poker Night.

Man tell me about it. Before I moved, I use to have a Fry's in my area as well. Every new release at Fry's was 15 dollars less than the suggested retail price, always. The nearest Fry's to me is now in Illinois :(

I brought the ad to my EB. Frys is out of my way but EB is close to work. For the time being EB still price matches while Gamestop by me won't.

Just FYI - Our local EB in Frisco, TX says that they are NOT doing price matching on the Fry's ad because Fry's is losing money on the deal.

Total BS if you ask me...you either honor your policy or you don't...

I guess I'll just stop by Fry's on my way home.

Jumped into the career mode or whatever, chose the N.A. region and an Acura RSX. Won the first series and, much like the GT series, they gave me a car for winning.

Definitely like the initial feel of a stock FWD car. This thing plows through the corners if I carry too much speed. Didn't turn off the assists and the damn stability management slowed me down a ton. I like how they did the suggested line assist and will probably keep it on as I learn the tracks.

Went to do some upgrades and found my car had jumped from a D2 car to a D1 with a few tweaks. That might not have been the best choice at this point.

Sweet game so far, can't wait to get online with it after a while. Going to do some racing with traction control and stability management off.

*edit*
Damn, get some new brakes and tires on your car right away. Huge difference. Damn FWD car still pushes like a pig when you carry too much speed, but the car feels a lot more nimble.

Definitely a lot more fun with TCS and stability control off.

I'm currently 664th at Alpine Ring in my D1 car, beat that b*tches :)

Sucks that I live in an area without high speed internet. Would love to get in on the online fun. For now, with my wife pregnant and puking, my gaming like my love life is a solo affair.

Damn...this game is sweet as hell. I find it much more challenging than Toca...you can't just brake at the last second, you have to ease into it. Sorry for beatin' everyone tonight...I bailed early for dinner (late for you guys) and because my car was destroyed in the first turn at the 'Ring.

I tend to not like the uber-realistic type sports sims that are the ones of choice on this board, but I must admit this game is damn good and damn fun. Mostly likely woudn't have got it if Pk hadn't kept hyping it but I'm glad he did.

I like. I like. I really like.

It lives up to the hype.

I'm too tired to write anything else now. 2 a.m. -- I've been playing for five hours straight.

More tomorrow.

Out,

Unorganized Thoughts on Forza:

I really like this game so far. I like how you can survive a little contact without any trouble. I like how you can really cause yourself to lose it, yet also can recover from mistakes. Is it too forgiving? I saw no lag in any of the full rooms I was in.

I think career mode looks promising. I really enjoyed the career mode stuff tonight. Everyone had a unique car, there were personalities out there on the track. I can see us having regular D1 races or C3 races or something, where everyone has a unique car or several, tweaked up to get to that class. I just tweaked up a D4 Civic to D1, just with 'modified' level upgrades. I can't wait to try it out against Fishguy's Audi and get my butt kicked. But then to get more upgrades to make it better, but still have to keep it a D1 car.

What's up with Terry paint job? That was slick. I wish I could jsut paint the doors. And I was happy to see you can race any class and any track online outside of career mode. I wish you could turn on sim. damage for career mode online. Track temperatures were in the 60s almost every race. The hightest I saw was in the 70s. Can you set up qualifying for online races? I really wish it could hold more than 8 in a room, but hey, I ain't complainin'.

- it was great
- I suck
- Cannot set grid order in online lobbies (not that I can find)
- cannot reset points in a lobby. Looks like you have to exit the lobby and restart it
- I suck. Been playing too much BUrnout and MC3 lately I guess.
- I would like to be able to configure it so that the timeout after the first person finishes is longer than 30 seconds.
- Do NOT hit the curbs on the nurburgring. In PGR2 you could, this game they send you flying.
- I suck
- Cannot force all players to turn aids/driving line off. (I trust DSPers though.)
- Huge difference in power even in cars of the same "class" (ie. C1, GTS). Db had 15mph more than me in a straightaway (dumb oval run we did) with neither of us drafting. This means we'll have to carefully choose our league cars to ensure it's the driver not the car that makes the difference (don't get me wrong db kicked our asses regardless of car.)

Hi there, long time viewer, I think..first time poster. I just wanted to say that, I picked this game up Tuesday, but only got to play it at length yesterday. I really enjoy it. I was a huge fan of Race Driver 2, and I really wish I could have gotten into a couple of the Poker Nights. They sound like a real blast. This game reminds me a lot of the feel of Race Driver, but with a bit more realism. I'm no tuner, but the options at your disposal are unbelievable. With the ability to adjust tire pressure, camber and toe, it's like Papyrus' Nascar sim all over. The driving model is sweet, really responsive. Choosing to turn off the aids really effects the cars response. Simply incredible. But I think that''s enough for now. I just wanted to chime in on this fantastic effort and I hope to be able to race with you guys online.

fun racing last night guys.....I guess we had to split into several groups since it can only handle 8 at a time. I recently upgraded my DSL connection, so I might be able to host 8. Really like the game so far and I am looking forward to hearing all you thoughts. I like how you can choose the degree of assists you want and it scores you accordingly.....although now that we raced live without assists, I think I will just bite the bullet and keep em off all the time now. I am wondering if this game will have the "legs" that TOCA did after the initial "honeymoon" wears off?
