OT: Which Adapter to Charge The PSP in Europe?

Post by Steelerfan2k1 »

I am going to France for two weeks. Naturally, I want to use my PSP while I am there.

In a perfect world, Radio Shack would have a 5 volt international adapter (like the 9 volt one that I bought a few years ago for my Archos Jukebox - which works great), since that would work perfectly for the PSP. But - there were no 5 volts, and the guy there said he thought Radio Shack had discontinued the 5 volt model.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The stock adapter handles 220v - just use a plug converter and you're golden in France. I can confirm that my US system worked just fine on French power. Not sure what the other stuff you mention is, or why you would need it.

Thanks Blub!

I have been going crazy trying to figure out the difference between 5 volts and 1500 watts, and so on, especially when I was looking at all of those converters.

Now it makes perfect sense. The PSP cord is so elaborate (with a regular plug, and then its own adaptor) because it is a 100v-240v plug, meaning that it can handle the 110 volts of American outlets, all the way up to the 240 volts found in Europe and China (?).

As I found on-line, "The AC adapter is indeed INPUT: 100V-240V so that it will work in Japan, the USA, and in Europe without any stepdown converters, etc."

It is great to hear that your PSP worked perfectly in France! I am going to be using mine all the time throughout the next two weeks.
