Whenever Parker mentions his PAL copy will be arriving I take the PAL to mean Pilfering and Looting. I personally don't have a problem with that since I download music. I'd have a problem if he made copies and sold them but that's different. It's not even a big deal but he tries to make it sound like he's got a connection or something that he gets stuff early. What's your site of preference Parker?

I wasn't going to include it, but one of the Celtics fans here asked me to add it, so I did.

The game was leaked yesterday. I could have been playing it early this morning. Newsgroup binaries are usually faster than torrents for this kind of thing FYI.

Not defending Parker by any means. And yes, I'm frusturated there are those who can illegally download the game without paying for it. However, aren't we just a wee bit hypocritical when the majority of us download illegal music online? Honestly, how much money have you saved by downloading music? More than $50 I imagine.

How is what he is doing different?

I never criticized Parker for downloading the game. Simply pointed out that Scoop's hunch was correct.

My, you have a very odd definition of "several hours." A whopping 71 minutes, huh? Do you measure your life in dog years?

Nice work. You're clearly not a man of your word, but we knew that already. After all, you've lost two bets in which you were supposed to leave this site for good, but like scum behind a bathroom faucet fixture, you're back and hard to remove. And every bit as annoying.

bdoughty wrote:Yea I prefer my impressions from someone who was "sent" the game by the Publisher or actually "paid" for it. Hopefully the next generation will not be so easy for the Parkers of the world.
Must we go through this everytime? I do not download games that can be easily purchased. I don't know why it is so hard to believe I have a connection that provides me with these copies legally.

I played the game for about 45 minutes using the regular controller. These are not my full impressions at all but just some initial thoughts. Graphics are incredible I must admit, and there is no slowdown like some reported with the demo. I find certain aspects of the presentation annoying and arcadish, but I expected that. The opponent AI is also better than I expected, much better than Rallisport, though it seems some AI cars would rather bump you off the road than use skills to pass you. Sound is pretty good, though maybe its my surround sound setup, but something seems screwy with the engine noises behind and in front of you. Also, I had to do tuning with the audio options because the mix of the music and sound effects was not working for me.

That's about it for now, I am fairly impressed.

And surprising to me, this game seems to work on Live (because this is a retail copy not a pirated version). So that's what I'll be trying next...let's see how you pirate-hunters explain that.

Oh, just wanted to add the game was well designed to be used with the controller unlike many other racers, but I will be trying a steering wheel later if I can.

Must you continue to break your word?

You lost two separate bets, never to return. You came back.

You said you would be gone for several hours to play Forza. You're back in 71 minutes posting here.

And you want us to consider you credible for anything?

P.S.: Those initial impressions had ZERO details. Anyone who has the demo could have written the same thing. Nice work.

Take care,
PK

I had hoped to play it for longer before needing to go out this evening, but duty calls and I must go at 5. Didn't want to leave you hanging.

Actually, those impressions offered me nothing, which is about what I expected. Zero details. Anyone with the demo could have written the same thing.

Bravo.

I really don't what I can add after playing it for 45 minutes, I don't like to make gameplay conclusions that quickly. But feel free to ask any question that might prove I actually played a full version.

Oh, maybe such key details as tuning options, Drivatar impressions, can race distances be adjusted by individual lap totals, handling differences between different classes of cars, front-wheel, four-wheel and rear-wheel drive cars?

Just minor details. You know, the kind of stuff you frequently and conveniently overlook.

What is this, an OS impressions thread? Two pages of swordfighting and no payoff. :D

No one criticized him at all...him claiming that he can get the game legitimately and him downloading it instead are two different points.

They do have chips out now that aren't recognizable by Xbox live...so you probably have one of those.

Well I do not download music so I do not think I am being hypocritical. Still kind of moot as developers of games visit this forum and it's basically a slap in the face to allow such discussions. I simply think it sends the wrong message and have had the same stance for as long as I have posted on the internet.

I don't have to explain squat Parker. Everytime you do one of these threads where you get an early 'copy' of a game it's always the day after the game leaked. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together. If you do want an explanation db already gave one.

Did you ever think the warez people use one of the PAL copies they send it to mags (like the one I have) to rip and distribute? That's why it's leaked almost at the same time you start seeing impressions from reviewers.

No db, there is no way to play a non-retail copy of an Xbox game on Live. You can hide your modchips from being detected so you won't be banned when you try to play a retail copy, but that's not the same thing.

Anyway, I am out the door now, but I will be back tonight with more details to please pk.

I hope you're posting for more than just me, as there's only one thing you could do to please me: Leave this site as you promised after losing two bets.

But we know better than to trust your word. Trolls never are trustworthy.

really? I consider the industry charging $59.00 and up, for the next generation of vidgames (as what is being reported), a slap in the face. Not unlike yourself, i've literally spent thousands of dollars in the past 3 years alone, supporting the industry (not one pirate game in my collection). If these reports are true, this is subject to change.

He must be posting for me too, and anyone else who sat through three pages of this and still doesn't know what the game is like. Not that this isn't wonderfully entertaining, but if we could all put each other down and take in some Forza impressions at Parker's earliest convenience, that would be a bonus.

Adam:

If it was anyone else offering to post impressions, I think this thread would have been a lot shorter and more civil. But consider the source of the offer to preview Forza: He's about as credible as a crack dealer pushing condoms to female students in the courtyard of a Catholic elementary school.

Take care,

Ha, I know, mate. What we need is one big 'Parker is a worm' thread and then when the time comes (late May for me, rather earlier for you lot) someone can clag some impressions into this thread - combining Parker bashing and Forza, those two DSP staples, into one thread must do funny things to db's blood pressure.

Cheers,
Simo
