I was able to place an order for a PS5 Disc with Walmart. I'm not getting my hopes up reading they love to cancel orders. So we'll see but if I do get one it's scheduled for Aug 5th.
Good luck! Definitely pick up Ratchet and Clank if you can. I’m playing through God of War for the first time and what a special game it is.
I have also been playing GOW. It’s incredible. I was annoyed that it won game of the year over Red Dead 2 but it was probably warranted.
I also just completed Horizon Zero Dawn. Also a SUPERB game.
Another batch of Xbox Series S's out. My local Walmart has 3 copies RIGHT NOW. So tempting to get w/ flight sim coming out tonight. I never see the Series X anywhere. I'll try not to bite.

If you have a 1080p TV then the Series S is a good choice. If it’s 4K then the Series X is the way to go. The thing is with the electronic shortages you could probably resell it close to MSRP if not more.
The Series S has been getting rave reviews. The shortcomings are 1. It’s HD is small (500GB…less than 400 with the console OS on there). 2. The resolution is not as high as the Series X (1440P compared to 4K for the Series X). 3. It’s all digital…no disc drive. That being said its a hell of a system according to many who have it and the tech sites experts. The link below compares the X to the S. For $200 cheaper it may end up being the higher selling of the two consoles. The expansion card storage card gives you an additional 1TB of storage and it is pretty pricey. That being said you could get the Series S and the expansion card for about the same as the Series X.
Well, I read through Tech Radar editor-in-chief Matt Swider on Twitter (dude is very well-sourced on retail restocks) there would be a Series X drop at 3 p.m. (ET) today at walmart.com. So, I went there at 2:59 p.m. and started to play the refresh-and-hope game. My outcome, and the console was shown as In Stock at each of these 10-minute intervals:
3 p.m.: Never got one in my cart
3:10 p.m.: Got one in my cart, but it was removed and listed as out of stock before I could get to checkout screen
3:20 p.m.: Got one in my cart, but it was removed and listed as out of stock before I could get to checkout screen
3:30 p.m.: Never got one in my cart
This is just total BS. I know there's a global chip shortage, but bots are just killing the ability for regular people to buy the console at retail price. And there's NO WAY IN F*CK I'm paying a dime more than retail.
Very frustrating. Sorry for venting. But I'm getting to the point where I'm going to ride or die with my OG Xbox One, and if it dies before I can get a Series X, I may just pack it in on this hobby for a while -- or forever.
Something is f*cked up with this world when it's easier to get access to buy a Bugatti Veyron or an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle than a video game console. Seems like my priorities are SO out of whack, especially amid a global pandemic, and I'm starting to feel sheepish about it.

I snagged a PS5 last month from Walmart.com but instead of going to the website I used the Walmart app. It allows you to SPAM the "add to cart" button. I kept getting OOS until I got one in my cart. It shipped yesterday.
The Walmart app is how I was able to get mine after trying the website twice before. It's crazy that it is still a struggle to get these consoles. I was lucky to get mine when I did, as I know I would be beyond pissed right now if I still didn't have one. I know it is a minor issue all things considered, but I would be

They should do the lottery thing like Newegg has been doing with Nvidia graphics cards. While they bundle the cards with stuff you may not need, at least it gives us common folk a chance.
So next-gen for me is now complete as I have a Series X/S and a PS5 later today. Although the way I got the Series X included having to buy the all-access version. The all access version was easy to get at the time because you have to qualify for credit but that's another option for those having trouble getting their hands on a Series X especially if you view Game Pass U as essential.
I've walked into several Walmarts in the past couple of weeks and the Series S has been stocked in store. If someone still has a 1080P TV then that's worth a look.
My PS5 was delivered and I must say the controller is pretty slick. Some may say it's gimmicky but it does give you a different sense of immersion when playing games. The question will developers take advantage of these features or will it be just 1st party games? It took some getting used to trying to figure out the changes to the UI.
After I downloaded the latest system update, I lost connection to my LAN port. But so far the two games i've seen Astro Bot and Demon Souls look to be a step up from the PS4.
So I was listening to a podcast this morning and they said you need a special kind of external drive for the Xbox X/S if you want to play X/S enhanced games off of it. I have the Seagate Game Drive Hub for Xbox 8TB Storage solution. I could swear I have games on it that are X/S specific and they run but now I am wondering if that is actually true.
What drives are compatible with the X / S which will run X/S specific games?

Your best bet is to keep monitoring Matt and other Xbox tracker accounts.
In both Amazon and Walmart app, create a Shopping list and just add the Xbox Series X.
When you get a notification that they should be in-stock just use the add to cart from the shopping list.
This worked for me, specially with Amazon.
Will do, but it's not a priority right now. I got so pissed off at the 45-second sellout of the Series X last week at Walmart.com and the Walmart app that I decided instead to use some of the funds I earmarked for a new machine on new shoes and flat pedals for my mountain bike.

I get the frustration. It really shows how much COVID f***ed up the semiconductor industry that both Sony an MS can't get more consoles out almost a year after launch.
