OT: Top Movie Lines of All Time

Post by RallyMonkey »

In a poker game i was in last night a discussion came up about the greatest/funniest/classic single movie lines of all time. Not long dialogue or even a few lines. One single sentence. I thought it might be fun to toss this out here and see what we could come up with. I'll start us off with a classic.....okay, not a classic, but at the time it was funny as hell. Simply because of who uttered it.

From Jaws after Roy Scheider first sees the shark...

Scheider's character very calmly says, "You're gonna need a bigger boat."

Probably my all time favorite one liner. In Trading Places, Clarence Beeks (Paul Gleason) is speaking on a pay phone to the Duke brothers and a woman is standing over his shoulder...waiting to use the phone. The quote went a little something like this:
Image

"(to the Dukes)the reports are in...we will rendevous at twentyone hundred hours, hold....(to the lady) f@ck off."

Short and to the point. :) I actually met Paul Gleason once when I was in the minors. He was a friend of the father of one of my teammates...and an avid Dodgers fan. He was at one of my games in San Bernadino. So my buddy introduced me to him after BP. I said..."man, I loved you in Trading Places!" and he laughed his ass off. Classic :) He also had some great one liners in DieHard and The Breakfast Club.

Pretty hard to top Clint Eastwood's classic from "Sudden Impact:"

"Go ahead ... make my day."

I can't remember any exact quotes right now, but everything Owen Wilson said in Zoolander was hilarious.

Dude, you should watch it again. Great movie, and a real masterpiece on a lot of different levels.

I just watched that the other night, for the billionth time.

"What behind the rabbit?"
(now john Cleese as Tim the Enchanter with a hilarious scottish accent)
"It is the rabbit."
"That's no ordinary rabbit. Thats the moust foul, cruel, and bad tempered rodent you ever set your eyes on."
"He's got huge, sharp.... He can leap about....... Look at the BONES!"

"I fart in your general direction!"

"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

"Now go away or i shall taunt you a second time."

I could type every line in the entire film. Hands down the funniest movie ever.
"Be tolerant of those who describe a sporting moment as their best ever. We do not lack imagination, nor have we had sad and barren lives; it is just that real life is paler, duller, and contains less potential for unexpected delirium." -Nick Hornby
