They're rarely discounted, especially since sales have been going up the last couple of years.Danimal wrote:Any deals on Mac laptops?
I'm looking to get a Mac laptop, no idea which etc.
However, they run this promo every fall:
http://www.apple.com/backtoschool/
And every year, after this fall promo is over, they introduce a new line of iPods for the upcoming Holiday season.
So you'll be getting a free iPod which will be replaced by newer, "better" models.
Also, at least once or twice, they update their computers, to line up with the newest Intel chipsets. Besides faster processors, you may get bigger hard disks, maybe more RAM, for the same price.
This site tracks the updates or rumors of updates. It lists how long it's been since a given Mac model was last updated and the likelihood of an impending update.

Thanks for the links.
Not sure how I would qualify for the back to school stuff.
I really don't want to spend more then $1500 and people tell me not to buy a Mac Book only buy a Pro so I don't know what to do.

I thought the back to school promo was available to everyone. I believe the apple.com link talks about buying from Apple Store too.
Students, faculty and staff at colleges may also get discounted prices on the computers through educational discounts.
As for MacBook vs. MacBook Pro, the latter are slightly faster but also bigger screens, keyboards and a dedicated GPU, plus aluminum case instead of plastic case.
For reasons of price though, MacBooks are way more popular.
There are rumors including at the macrumors.com link about MacBooks coming with new designs, to make them look more like MacBook Airs and Pros.

I have no idea who those "people" are, but they're crazy. If you don't want to go over $1500, the MacBook is a terrific laptop. Sure the Pro is better, but for $1200 you get a damn good laptop in the MacBook.I really don't want to spend more then $1500 and people tell me not to buy a Mac Book only buy a Pro so I don't know what to do.

Unfortunately for folks living in Canada it's forcing me to use Priority International Shipping (which itself costs 23 bucks - and all I wanted was CoD 2 for 10 bucks!). Anyone else from Canada getting the same problem?
The problem is that merchants still haven't adjusted the dollar value which has been almost at par for awhile now and in some cases the CDN loonie even higher. I was at an EB store yesterday and there are some good summer deals for older titles out there. Check them out.Macca00 wrote:Thanks for the link, Vader - some great deals there.vader29 wrote:Nice game sale on some older titles going on at amazon.com

Maybe you need to update to the latest version of Adobe flash? They changed the setup of their site a few weeks ago and there is a flash ad on the top of the page, don't remember if it was there before or not. A few months ago yahoos main page would lock up my browser and I finally got it to work again after installing the latest flash update.pigpen81 wrote:For the last 2 weeks, I haven't been able to open up cheapassgamer.com
Any suggestions why?
Thanks!
Not gaming related, but Amazon's gold box deal today is the Firefly: The Complete Series for a phenomenal $17.99!!

For those of you who don't live right next to a gaming store (like me)...Gamestop has a Tiger Woods 09 w/free overnight shipping deal going on. Looks like it ends tomorrow (Wed 9/6) in the morning some time. Use the link below.
