What are your plans for making sure you get a PS3 friday?
I'm sure there are a few in here that have a plan worked out. There is too much profit to be made to not try and get one. When do you think the majority of lines will be forming? I was thinking of camping out at a compusa store but i'm sure there will be lines everywhere. I only want one to resell for profit as I figure netting one would pay for my new mac and allow me to pick up a Wii or a couple of DS lites for christmas for my boys.
Anyway just curious on the gameplan for anybody that's got the same idea.

I am pretty sure I will have at least 2 come Friday.
Well, my fiance and her sister are getting them(they are 5 and 6 in line at EB). I put up all the money and sell them and give them a few bucks for their effort.
I might also head over to a local Walmart at 9 or so like I did for the ps2. I got 2 that night and sold them both.

But seriously, I've never cared less about a console launch. Either I'm growing out of my need to have the latest and greatest at the earliest, or Sony messed up.
To the apathy, not so much the baking part.

I'm going to work all day, play soccer Friday evening and then come home and fire up my Easy Bake Oven as I watch hockey. Might slip in some time with the DS Lite, too.
Take care,

I've already hired several homeless people to deploy throughout the D/FW metroplex and help me with my grand scheme. We will sell them on eBay, send the winners empty boxes, and return the PS3 units to Wal-Marts we didn't buy them from for store credit.

That's not a bad idea but most of the homeless in St. Louis are downtown and I try and avoid that crime ridden area at all costs.Kazuya wrote:I've already hired several homeless people to deploy throughout the D/FW metroplex and help me with my grand scheme. Last December I stumbled upon a premium 360 while picking up wrapping paper at Walmart. I got flamed by several here for deciding to sell it for a modest profit (~150). Maybe Ive been vindicated? This summer I used that $150 towards a 360 so it was a nice bonus.
Anyways, no plans for me...I like my 360...unless of course I stumble across one again in a few weeks.

same here. I dont even have time to play all my 360 games I currently have. why the heck would I need another console? I am 100% satisfied with my 360 at the momenf have no urge for "extra-consolital affairs"

Sell them if you can. Let people flame you here... its easy money.MUTTS wrote:Last December I stumbled upon a premium 360 while picking up wrapping paper at Walmart. Yeah, but then there maybe would have been only one response to your original post, and what fun would that have been?tjung0831 wrote:The thread was really for people that might be getting one to sell...not for people that don't have any interest in it!

Don't think Sony has messed up, at least in the launch period or out to 6 months after launch.Slumberland wrote:I plan to bake one, from raw ingredients.

Despite the high price, people lined up in Japan last Friday, some coming from Europe. There will no doubt be a lot of sales on eBay but that doesn't seem to be deterring people.
Positive reports on other forums from those who secured units in Japan, generating enthusiasm, at least at those forums. Not that those forums are more or less indicative of overall interest and demand than DSP.
I'll probably swing by Thursday evening and Friday morning to see if there's a chance. Supposedly many stores will pass out tickets so people will know whether to bother standing in line at a particular store or go elsewhere.

I might have an inside source at Walmart, if so I plan on getting one and putting it right on eBay. I've already secured a Wi thanks to my wifes connections.
But the days of plans and camping are over, if Jessica Alba start giving out free hummers I will get in line, otherwise never again.

Really? I don't recall anyone getting flamed for the actual sales of 360s. I do recall people being flamed for bragging about selling on a gaming message board while others were searching for units to *play* or for selling one unit for a healthy profit and then turning around and trying to get someone to *give* them another one. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will dig up a quote though.MUTTS wrote:Last December I stumbled upon a premium 360 while picking up wrapping paper at Walmart. I'll be spending Friday at work and then home with my family. I found a 360 last year at Costco. If I find another one I'm selling it on ebay. I'm really happy with the 360 and I don't need the money enough to proactively hunt one down. I wouldn't stand in line for more than a few hours even if you could guarantee me that the wait would net a $1,500-2k profit.

This will be the first Playstation launch that I will be sitting out. I think this is partly due to the fact that the 360 is everything I need it to be. I have been very openly critical of Sony's approach to this launch and it is just a damn shame that they could not have let their machine speak for itself. Were it not for the 360, I would be looking for a PS3 for sure because I believe it will be one helluva machine. I'll probably end up with one at some point in time, but it won't be until I can walk into a B&M store like CompUSA and buy the machine I want with the peripherals, games and extended warranty. And the $599 unit is the only one I would consider. It would not hurt for a price drop to occur sometime next year, but I don't see that happening until production is full speed and demand falls off....
I just can't begin to be bothered. I picked up the PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2 and 360 at launch, but my days of multi-console ownership died long ago. I considered picking up a PS3 to sell it, but I honestly didn't want to risk being stuck with a machine that I had no use for. (Well, I suppose I could line up my Spider Man DVD next to it and marvel at the similarity of the font.)
