More details in this link from the Indianapolis Star

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a ... /512220474

Coach Dungy has always been a big supporter of the Speedway and IRL and I know a few people in and around the offices here had met James Dungy.

Thoughts and prayers to the Dungy family.

My friend called me this morning to tell me the news, Absolutely Horrible! My prayers are with Coach Dungy's family. It's a sad day here in Tampa.

Not sure if I should post this site or not. Doesn't feel quit right but might shed some light on the subject.

If you guys feel I should edit it off, I will. Or if PK or Scoop want to edit it off, go ahead.

A really thugged-out profile, was what it was. My cursor turned into a handgun, and that pretty much fit the theme.

Like Coot said, a thugged-out profile complete with lots of handgun, rap and weed references.

God, it has to be hard to be an NFL coach and a dedicated father. By all accounts, Dungy is an absolute first-class human being. But when you're working 85-plus hours per week as an NFL head coach, it's pretty hard to be there for your kids. The "what ifs?" have to be sickening and so sad in this situation.

My heart aches for the Dungy family.

Take care,
PK

I agree 100%.

If the web site is real, the kid had some issues. The fact he hailed the DC snipers as his heroes speaks volumes.

No doubt, wow.

What a selfish thing to do though, especially this time of year. Can't imagine what could possibly be going on through an 18yr old kid's life, a totally priviledged one at that, where they would want to kill himself. I guess he was staying in Tampa in an apartment to finish high school while his parents live in Indy during the regular season? That can't help things to have no adult supervision. I feel really sorry for Tony, he seems like a great coach and man.

Take it for what it's worth, but a couple of radio sports guys in Chicago insinuated that Dungy may retire. They didn't mention right away or at the end of the season.

Can't imagine losing a child.

Micheal Smith and Micheal Holley said the same thing on the radio that Dungy might retire.

This time of the year unfortunately brings also the worse in some people. The homeless, people with no family or loved ones, and as Xmas usually brings family together, it can also bring a lot of loneliness and depression to those less fortunate. Of course, we'll never know now. A tragedy.
